In Moiano... not just snails
The Moiano Snail Festival is one of the most cherished gastronomic events of the summer in the Lake Trasimeno area. It takes place in Moiano, a hamlet of Città della Pieve in the province of Perugia, and celebrates a dish of Umbrian peasant tradition: the snail, passed down from generation to generation by the village families.
The undisputed protagonist is naturally the snail, cooked according to the local recipe, but the menu is extensive and curated by the cooks of Moiano, with many typical dishes and local products to satisfy even those who don't like snails. The festival's motto — 'he who goes slowly goes healthily and goes to Moiano' — well conveys the convivial and relaxed spirit of the feast.
In addition to the food, the festival offers dancing evenings with the best Umbrian orchestras, live concerts, an outdoor dance floor, games for the little ones, and a bar. The spaces include the indoor party hall and a large outdoor area, to enjoy summer evenings in good company.
The event is promoted by Arci Moiano APS and the festival committee of the village, with the work of community volunteers: a popular festival that combines gastronomy, tradition, and social life in the heart of Umbria.
The 13th edition of the Snail Festival returns to Moiano, a hamlet of Città della Pieve, from July 2 to 5, 2026. In Moiano, the aroma of good food will once again fill the air, with the snail as the undisputed protagonist alongside an extensive menu of typical dishes.
The evenings will be enlivened by dancing with the best Umbrian orchestras, live concerts, games for children, and a bar with refreshing drinks, between the indoor party hall and the outdoor area with the dance floor.
The festival takes place over four evenings, from July 2 to 5, 2026. The usual structure includes each evening:
The detailed musical program for each evening will be published by the organization on the official website and Facebook page in the weeks prior.
