About Melodica

Melodica - Music for the soul is Ragusa's historic international concert season, running since 1995 under the artistic direction of pianist Diana Nocchiero. Every year, from September to June, the Auditorium of the "Mimì Arezzo" Cultural Commercial Center hosts a rich program of classical and chamber music concerts, featuring both Italian performers and international guests. Piano, strings, woodwinds, operatic voices, and chamber ensembles alternate in a schedule ranging from Baroque to tango, with an accessible subscription designed to bring the general public closer to classical music in the heart of the Iblean city.

A series that nourishes the soul in Ragusa

Melodica - Music for the soul is one of the longest-running and most beloved concert seasons in south-eastern Sicily. Founded in 1995 and organized by the Melodica Association under the artistic direction of pianist Diana Nocchiero, the series brings a long schedule of classical and chamber music concerts to Ragusa, in the heart of the Ragusa Province and Sicily, every year throughout the winter season, from September to June.

The venue: the Auditorium of the Cultural Commercial Center

The concerts take place in the Auditorium of the "Mimì Arezzo" Cultural Commercial Center, at Via Giacomo Matteotti 61, in the historic center of Ragusa. The intimate hall, with its carefully curated acoustics, offers direct contact between musicians and the audience, an ideal setting for the chamber music that lies at the heart of the series.

An international program

Melodica stands out for the variety of its program and its openness to international guests. Over the course of its seasons, the series has featured:

  • Piano recitals, from the Romantic repertoire to original contemporary compositions;
  • Chamber music concerts for duos and ensembles of strings, woodwinds, and piano;
  • Vocal and operatic concerts, with sopranos, mezzo-sopranos, and guest voices;
  • Thematic programs ranging from Baroque to Argentine tango, from singer-songwriter music to repertoire dedicated to female composers.

An accessible cultural project

A distinctive feature of Melodica is the desire to make great music accessible to everyone: the full-season subscription is affordably priced, and individual concert tickets offer reduced rates for students and free admission for children. The series is supported by the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Ragusa and the Sicilian regional offices for Tourism, Sport, and Entertainment.

Tradition and roots in the Iblean territory

With over thirty years of activity, Melodica has become a landmark for the cultural life of Ragusa and the entire Iblean territory, capable of building a loyal audience and offering young performers a prestigious stage alongside established artists. A series that, season after season, confirms its motto: music as nourishment for the soul.
