In 2026, Matera shares the title of Mediterranean Capital of Culture and Dialogue with the Moroccan city of Tétouan. From this alliance, Mediterranean Sounds was born, a musical residence conceived as a sonic bridge: musicians from both cities work and perform together, building a common language made of contaminations, mutual listening, and artistic research.

The project is part of the 'Contaminations' section of the Matera 2026 program, dedicated to cultural mixing as an active practice, where the encounter between different traditions becomes shared creation.
