The village returns to the Middle Ages: historical reenactment within the walls of Valvasone
Medioevo a Valvasone is one of the most beloved and long-standing historical reenactments in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Now in its 34th edition, it takes the charming village of Valvasone back in time, transforming streets, squares, and courtyards into an authentic medieval theatre. For four days, the town is populated by ladies and knights, artisans, musicians, and re-enactors, in an atmosphere meticulously recreated that captivates both young and old.
The program is incredibly rich: fire shows, mystery theatre, medieval adventures, artisan hunts, traditional games, and performances animate every corner of the village. There is also a medieval market with artisan workshops, the Brolo area with its historic garden, animal exhibitions, and especially the taverns and medieval dinners, where you can taste dishes inspired by period cuisine. The event's motto โ Rediscover, Relive, Reenact โ perfectly summarizes its spirit.
Among the most characteristic offerings is the historic train connecting Trieste to Valvasone for the reenactment: a journey of yesteryear to reach the village, with special fares (approximately 10 euros for adults and 5 euros for children aged 4 to 12). An original and sustainable way to experience the event right from the journey.
Valvasone, now part of the municipality of Valvasone Arzene in the province of Pordenone, is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy and boasts a castle, a cathedral with a precious 16th-century organ, and a historic center of great charm. The reenactment is the ideal opportunity to discover it in its most spectacular guise, amidst history, entertainment, and flavors. An event to mark on your calendar for those who love the Middle Ages and Friulian villages.
