The May Fair of Sondrio

The May Fair is the large travelling commercial fair that enlivens the centre of Sondrio, the capital of Valtellina, every spring. Now in its twenty-fifth edition in 2026, the event is managed by the SUAP of the Municipality of Sondrio and represents a highly anticipated traditional appointment, capable of attracting vendors and visitors from all over the province.

A fair that crosses the city

The fair stalls are spread along the main streets and squares of the centre: Viale Milano, Piazzale Toccalli, Via De Simoni, Piazza Garibaldi, Piazza Campello, and Via Piazzi. For one day, the heart of Sondrio transforms into a large open-air market, with offers of all kinds, from clothing to crafts, from household products to gastronomic specialities.

A tradition of the provincial capital

The May Fair is one of those events that mark the city calendar and are part of Sondrio's identity. Strolling among the stalls, between purchases and chats, is a way to experience the historic centre in a lively and popular atmosphere, typical of large town and city fairs.
