Three days of tradition, flavours, and celebration in the shadow of the Bolognini Castle
In Sant'Angelo Lodigiano, in the province of Lodi, the May Fair is much more than a fair: it is the event that for over sixty years has marked the beginning of the good season. Organised by the Pro Loco with the patronage of the Municipality, it fills the town centre and its most beautiful spaces for three days, starting with the renowned Bolognini Castle, with events and initiatives that involve the entire community.
The popular heart of the fair is made up of street food and stalls: the festival typically opens in the square with the gastronomic village and the funfair, enlivened by music and DJ sets until late at night. Between one specialty and another, the streets of the centre fill with people of all ages, in a festive atmosphere that lasts for the entire weekend.
Alongside gastronomy, the May Fair offers a very rich programme. It ranges from fashion shows with outfits for women, men, and children – including wedding boutiques – to static exhibitions of vintage cars and tractors, from the sports village with local associations to play areas for children. The Bolognini Castle opens the doors of its three museums (the Morando Bolognini Museum, the Lombard Museum of Agricultural History, and the Bread Museum) with guided tours, while choirs, concerts, and photographic exhibitions complete the offering.
From the House of Saint Francesca Cabrini to the basilica museum, the fair is also an opportunity to rediscover the historical and religious heritage of Sant'Angelo Lodigiano. For those visiting the Bassa Lodigiana in spring, the May Fair is the ideal gateway to a territory rich in history, flavours, and agricultural traditions.
The 2026 edition of the May Fair of Sant'Angelo Lodigiano is the 61st and takes place from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th May, organised by the Pro Loco with the patronage of the Municipality. The fair opens on Friday 8th in Piazza Duca degli Abruzzi, where from 6 PM to midnight the public can immerse themselves in the street food atmosphere, accompanied by the funfair and DJ music.
The weekend, Saturday 9th and Sunday 10th May, is full of events at the Bolognini Castle, an integral part of the fair tradition, with fashion shows, guided tours of the castle's three museums, and initiatives for the community.
