The traditional fair that colours the streets and promenade of Cupra Marittima
The May Fair is one of the most heartfelt and attended events in the spring calendar of Cupra Marittima, a seaside town in the Province of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region. Every year, on the last Sunday of the month, the town centre and the characteristic promenade transform into a large open-air market that attracts residents and visitors from all over the Riviera delle Palme.
For an entire day, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, the streets of the centre and the promenade host stalls of all kinds: vendors, hobbyists, and artisans offer creative ideas and handcrafted items, from handmade objects to regional specialities. Numerous gastronomic stands offer typical local products, making the fair also an opportunity to discover the flavours of the Piceno region while strolling among the stalls.
The May Fair is not just about shopping: the programme includes entertainment and shows designed for families and children, with itinerant artists animating the streets throughout the day. In the afternoon, around 5:30 PM, the Lungomare Romita, in the area of the tennis courts, becomes the stage for the main show, which in recent years has featured well-known faces from the cabaret and comedy scene.
On the occasion of the fair, the Civita Archaeological Naturalistic Park is also open to the public. This area preserves the remains of the ancient Roman city of Cupra. The afternoon opening, with guided tours, allows visitors to combine the pleasure of a stroll among the stalls with the discovery of the historical and naturalistic heritage of the Municipality of Cupra Marittima.
Organized by the Municipality of Cupra Marittima in collaboration with the Pro Loco and local operators, the May Fair represents a moment of celebration and social gathering that marks the start of the summer tourist season on the Piceno coast, offering families, the curious, and enthusiasts a day of tradition, craftsmanship, and good food.
The 2026 May Fair was held on Sunday, May 31, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM, in the streets of the centre and along the promenade of Cupra Marittima. Throughout the day, vendors, hobbyists, and artisans offered stalls rich in creative crafts and specialities, alongside numerous gastronomic stands featuring local products.
At 5:30 PM, on the Lungomare Romita, in the tennis court area, the show by the comic magician Tino Fimiani, a performer capable of engaging the audience with magic tricks and fun, took place. In the afternoon, from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, the Civita Archaeological Naturalistic Park was also open to the public, with a guided tour at 4:30 PM.
