In Sesta Godano, a village in the upper Val di Vara in the province of La Spezia, the beginning of May is marked by a double event that enlivens the village center: the White Night and the May 1st Fair. Two different but complementary events, capable of transforming Piazza Marconi and the village streets into a large space for celebration and socialising.
The White Night
The White Night evening opens the festivities with an artisan market, stalls from hobbyists and agricultural producers, street food, and live music. The bars and local establishments of the village actively participate, contributing to creating a convivial atmosphere that lasts into the evening.
The May 1st Fair
The following day is dedicated to the May 1st Fair, a centuries-old tradition of the village and an identity-defining moment for the community of Sesta Godano. The fair, dedicated to promoting local customs and heritage, fills the village with stalls and visitors. As the organizers explain, these are «two days to get together, rediscover the pleasure of community, and make space for culture, fun, and shared experiences».
May 1st Fair — edition 2026
The 2026 edition combined the second edition of the White Night, on Thursday April 30, and the May 1st Fair, on Friday May 1. Two days dedicated to the community, featuring tradition, music, and entertainment.
The White Night enlivened Piazza Marconi from 5:00 PM with hobbyists, artisans, agricultural producers, street food stands, and live music, with the participation of local establishments. The following day, the historic fair confirmed its role as an identity-defining event for Sesta Godano.

Sesta Godano can be reached by car from the A12 motorway (Brugnato-Borghetto Vara or Carrodano exits), heading up the Val di Vara. The village is in the hinterland of La Spezia.
