The Chieri festival dedicated to young singer-songwriters and emerging independent music
In the musical landscape of Chieri, a town in the Province of Turin, Piedmont, Mattautori stands out as a fresh and essential festival, designed to provide a platform for young singer-songwriters and independent musical projects from the local area and beyond. The name itself, a play on words between the venue and the world of singer-songwriters, captures the spirit of the initiative: intimate, artisanal, and filled with new voices and stories to be heard.
The festival takes place at ExMatta, the social restaurant at 8B Via Giovanni XXIII, an inclusive space created by the ExEat cooperative that has long combined seasonal cuisine, sustainability, and social projects for people with disabilities. Every concert features free admission and begins at 9:00 PM, in a cozy atmosphere that puts the focus on the music.
Mattautori was born from a specific need: to bring live music back into local venues, restoring their role as true meeting places. The project is the result of a collaboration between ExMatta and the Al Dente association, and was conceived together with the young Chieri-based singer-songwriter Maura Colella, who hosts the format throughout the evenings while also sharing her own artistic journey.
The strength of the festival lies in the variety of its offerings: from singer-songwriter tracks to funk-pop, and from hip-hop to trap, each evening brings a different language to the stage. It is an opportunity for the Chieri audience to discover emerging artists in an up-close setting, and for musicians to make themselves known to an attentive crowd.
Mattautori is a small but significant event for those in Chieri who want to hear the music of tomorrow in an authentic and welcoming setting.
The 2026 edition, the first of the festival, was divided into four evening appointments at ExMatta in Chieri, all with free admission and starting at 9:00 PM. The format, conceived by ExMatta and the Al Dente association together with Maura Colella, highlighted young singer-songwriters and independent projects, alternating different genres and languages in an intimate and cozy atmosphere.
The festival included a fourth evening, announced by the organizers as to be defined. All dates were presented by the Chieri-based singer-songwriter Maura Colella, who accompanied the audience throughout the entire festival.
Four emerging voices of the singer-songwriter and independent scene, from the young Chieri-based promise Mamagรฉ to the Italian-American singer-songwriter Emerie, in an intimate and free-entry setting.
