About Massazza Carnival

The Massazza Charity Carnival is one of the most cherished and long-standing festivals in the Basso Biellese region. For over half a century, every late February, this small town in the Province of Biella transforms into a vibrant stage for masks, music, and local gastronomy. Organized by the Carnival Committee and the Pro Loco, the event combines the Children's Carnival, the famous '4-Legged Carnival' (pet parade), the Carnival Fun Run, and the grand public bean stew feastโ€”all with free entry and a charitable mission.

A village carnival with over half a century of history

The Massazza Charity Carnival is one of the most beloved and deeply rooted events in the Basso Biellese. Reaching its 52nd edition in 2026, it is much more than just a costume party: it is an appointment that rallies the entire community of Massazza, a small town in the Province of Biella, Piedmont, for a weekend of joy, tradition, and solidarity. The keyword is charity, as the proceeds from the initiatives have always been donated to charitable causes, faithful to the spirit with which the festival was born in the 1970s.

Three days of festivities for all ages

The program spans the entire weekend, alternating moments dedicated to children, animal lovers, motor enthusiasts, and fans of local cuisine. Among the events that repeat year after year and have become a true local institution:

  • Children's Carnival: games, entertainment, and confetti under the marquee for local families.
  • 4-Legged Carnival: the costumed dog parade, one of the most original and photographed attractions of the event.
  • Carnival Fun Run: the non-competitive race, open to all ages, which brings the village streets to life with colors, music, and costumes.
  • Traditional Bean Stew: the signature dish of the Massazza carnival, prepared in numerous large cauldrons and distributed in the square to all attendees.

The bean stew, the heart of tradition

If there is one moment that captures the soul of the Massazza carnival, it is the bean stew. Prepared in large cauldrons by dozens of volunteers, it is a true institution of the festival: a convivial ritual that brings together friends, families, and visitors around the typical dish of the Biellese peasant tradition. Live music, marching bands, and themed evenings that change from year to year revolve around the bean stew and the lunch in the marquee.

A community festival

Organized by the Massazza Carnival Committee in collaboration with the local Pro Loco, the Charity Carnival is an example of how small towns in Piedmont know how to preserve and renew their traditions. With free entry to all events and a constant focus on charity, the festival represents a perfect opportunity to discover the hospitality and warmth of the Basso Biellese off the beaten tourist path.

Massazza Carnival โ€” edition 2026

The 52nd edition of the Massazza Charity Carnival took place from February 27 to March 1, 2026, confirming the success of the formula that combines masks, sports, music, and gastronomy. From the mobile disco on Friday night to the bean stew on Sunday, passing through the Children's Carnival, the 4-Legged Carnival, and the Carnival Fun Run, three days of free festivities brought the Basso Biellese village to life.

The 52nd edition of the Massazza Charity Carnival reprised, from February 27 to March 1, 2026, the rich calendar of events that has made it one of the most followed festivals in the Province of Biella. Among the most appreciated novelties, the Brazilian Carnival on Saturday night and the Vespa exhibition on Sunday morning, joined by timeless classics like the bean stew and the Fun Run.

This year again, the event, organized by the Carnival Committee together with the Pro Loco, confirmed its charitable vocation and free entry to all events.
