Five days of village festival along the Volano in Massa Fiscaglia
Massa in Fiera is the new major village festival of Massa Fiscaglia, a populous center in the Municipality of Fiscaglia, in the province of Ferrara, in the heart of Emilia-Romagna's Po Delta lands. For five days, the village comes alive between the inhabited center and the characteristic Volano riverside, the branch of the river that runs through the town and has always marked its identity. It is one of those collective festivals that are part of the social fabric of small Ferrara towns: an event where tradition, community, and the desire to be together blend into a rich and varied program.
The heart of the event is its festive and popular atmosphere. It features alternating dancing evenings, live music, and shows designed to engage every age group. Beloved village festival events are not to be missed, such as tombola (a lottery game), the foosball tournament, and the unmissable fireworks that light up the sky over the river. Among the more original initiatives are aperitifs on the river, fashion shows, and a dog show, which make the calendar varied and capable of attracting audiences from neighboring towns as well.
As in any self-respecting village festival, great space is dedicated to gastronomy: the food stalls offer traditional Ferrara dishes and local typical products, in a convivial area to stop for dinner before the evening shows. For the little ones and families, there is the funfair, with rides and attractions that remain one of the event's unmissable draws.
The 2026 edition marks an important novelty: the fair is organized for the first time by the RicreAmo club, an organization that brings together children, teenagers, and young people from the town throughout the year, with the support of numerous local associationsโincluding the Pro Loco of Massa Fiscaglia, Avis, Auser, and the Tennis Club Il Ghiandaio. The event carries on the legacy of the town's historic village festivals, always linked to the early summer period and the Volano riverside, and relaunches them with young people as the true protagonists.
Massa Fiscaglia is located in the lower Ferrara region, in an area shaped by land reclamation, canals, and the course of the Volano, an ancient branch of the Po River. It is an authentic and less touristy corner of Emilia-Romagna, where village festivals retain a strong identity value. Participating in Massa in Fiera means experiencing the festival as the locals do, with genuine cuisine, music, and social interaction.
The first edition of Massa in Fiera, organized by the RicreAmo club, was held from June 5 to 9, 2026, in Massa Fiscaglia (Fiscaglia, FE), between the town center and the area along the Volano river. The event focused on the town's young people and offered five days of celebration for the entire community.
The program combined music, sports, and gastronomy, with the support of local associations Pro Loco, Avis, Auser, and Tennis Club Il Ghiandaio.
The 2026 program was spread over five days, from Friday, June 5 to Tuesday, June 9, with events distributed between the center of Massa Fiscaglia and the Volano riverside. Among the announced initiatives:
