A Fair Over Five Centuries Old
The Rovigo October Fair is the most anticipated event of Ottobre Rodigino, the extensive series of events organized every autumn in the capital of Polesine, in Veneto, by the Municipality of Rovigo. The fair has been held uninterruptedly since 1482, the year the Polesine city became part of the Republic of Venice, making it one of the oldest in Italy.
The Marti Franco
The highlight is the "Marti Franco" (free Tuesday), the first Tuesday after October 20th: a day of free market trading whose tradition dates back to the 17th century. Four days of festivities, closing the historic center to traffic and filling it with life, are centered around this date.
Stalls, Gastronomy, and Amusement Park
Hundreds of stalls line the streets and squares of the center: typical crafts, antiques, food and wine products, the "children's market," and the unmistakable scent of caramelized almonds. The large amusement park is located in the Censer area. The Ottobre Rodigino event series accompanies the fair throughout the month with exhibitions, music, conferences, and sporting events, enlivening Rovigo and the entire Polesine region.

How to get there
Rovigo is on the A13 Bologna-Padova motorway and on the Bologna-Padova and Verona-Rovigo railway lines. During the fair, the historic center is closed to traffic: it is advisable to use the peripheral parking lots and reach the center on foot.
