The village festival with piadine, vintage cars, and Ferrarese tradition
The Masi Torello Festival is the event that every year, between the end of May and the beginning of June, brings together the entire community of the small Municipality of Masi Torello, in the province of Ferrara, in the heart of the Emilia-Romagna plain. It's not a big, headline-grabbing festival, but an authentic village fair: the kind of celebration that is part of a village's identity and brings together families, associations, and visitors from neighboring towns around the same squares.
The heart of the event is Piazza del Mercato, alongside the nearby Piazzale Primavera. Here, stalls and the food stand are set up, while evenings and events are spread throughout the town's streets. The formula is the tried-and-tested one of Emilia festivals: you arrive at dusk, eat together, and stay out late.
The festival's cuisine is simple and deeply rooted in the region. The absolute star is the piadina, a gastronomic symbol of Romagna and now widespread throughout the Ferrara area, accompanied by traditional sweets and pastries. The food stand is managed by Pro Loco volunteers and has always been the evening meeting point of the festival.
Alongside the food, the Festival offers a rich calendar of initiatives designed to engage all age groups: musical evenings, sports demonstrations, a night walk through the countryside, a youth football tournament, and a cycling tour. However, the most anticipated moment remains the vintage car rally, organized in collaboration with the Officina Ferrarese ASI Club, which brings dozens of historic vehicles and numerous enthusiasts to Masi Torello.
The event is coordinated by the Pro Loco of Masi Torello with the support of the Municipality and the participation of numerous local associations, including Avis, the cycling group Ruota Libera, and the sports club Masi Torello Voghiera. It is an example of how, in the small towns of the province of Ferrara, volunteer work still manages to keep community traditions alive.
The 2026 Festival animated Masi Torello from Friday, May 30 to Tuesday, June 2, with evening events in Piazza del Mercato and Piazzale Primavera. The Pro Loco's food stand, as always, offered traditional piadine and sweets, accompanied by musical evenings and entertainment.
The calendar confirmed the most popular events: karate demonstrations, a night walk through the countryside, the youth football tournament, and the "Sbiciclada di Masi" cycling tour organized by the Ruota Libera group. The Avis information stand was also present.
The highlight of the event was the 27th vintage car rally, held on Sunday, June 7: over 60 historic vehicles and around 120 participants, starting from Masi Torello, with a stop in San Matteo della Decima and lunch at the Acetaia Paltrinieri in Sorbara. The initiative was organized in collaboration with the Officina Ferrarese ASI Club.
Masi Torello is located about 15 km east of Ferrara, along the provincial road connecting the provincial capital to Portomaggiore. It is easily accessible by car from the SS16 Adriatica or the Ferrara-Porto Garibaldi highway junction. The nearest train station is Ferrara, from which you can continue by bus or car.
Events are concentrated in Piazza del Mercato and the nearby Piazzale Primavera, in the center of Masi Torello (FE).
Admission to the festival is free. You only pay for what you consume at the food stand and any registration fees for sports activities (car rally, football tournament, cycling tour).
Evenings generally start around 9:00 PM. For the vintage car rally and sports events, it's advisable to get information in advance from the Pro Loco or on the event's social media channels.
