Italian comedy takes the stage in the Atrio dell'Ateneo Bruni
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Martina Franca Cabaret Festival is one of the longest-running and most beloved comedy events in Southern Italy. Founded in the late nineties, the festival attracts thousands of spectators every summer to the Town of Martina Franca, a baroque jewel of the Itria Valley in the province of Taranto, in the heart of Puglia. Conceived and curated by the Sirio cultural association under the direction of the Tagliente family, the festival combines big names from Italian cabaret and television with the discovery of new talents.
The evenings take place in the Atrio dell'Ateneo Bruni, an elegant open-air space in the historic center of Martina Franca. The meticulously curated stage design, the packed audience, and the atmosphere of the Apulian August nights make this setting one of the ingredients of the event's success, capable of combining entertainment, tourism, and city life.
The festival is traditionally divided into three evenings that alternate between different styles of comedy:
Beyond the entertainment, the Martina Franca Cabaret Festival has played a scouting role for years: the competition reserved for emerging artists has become a true springboard for young comedians who find an important stage and an attentive jury here. Many artists who passed through the Martina Franca selection have since found success on television and in national theater circuits.
For those visiting the Itria Valley in summer, the festival is the ideal opportunity to combine a vacation among trulli, masserie, and the sea of the Taranto area with nights of pure fun. The proven formula, the atmosphere of the historic center, and the quality of the guests have made this festival a fixed appointment in the Apulian summer calendar and a driver for the city's cultural tourism.
After the success of the 2025 edition, the Martina Franca Cabaret Festival is preparing to celebrate the milestone of its 30th edition in 2026. The organizers from the Sirio association have confirmed they are working on the new festival, but at the moment the dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced. The event is expected to maintain its formula for 2026: three evenings in the Atrio dell'Ateneo Bruni, featuring national comedians, the emerging talent competition, and traditional awards. This page will be updated as soon as the organization publishes the official calendar.
Martina Franca can be reached by car via the SS172 dei Trulli road; the nearest train stations are those of the Ferrovie del Sud Est and, for high-speed rail, Bari Centrale and Taranto. The reference airports are Bari-Palese and Brindisi-Salento.
The evenings are held in the Atrio dell'Ateneo Bruni, in the historic center. Tickets are available online via Vivaticket and at the Sirio association office, located at viale Europa 123. For information: [email protected].
We recommend booking in advance for the final nights, which often sell out, and combining your visit with a tour of the baroque historic center of Martina Franca.
