The First Carnival in the Walled Town
For the first time in its history, the historic walled center of Marostica (province of Vicenza, Veneto) will host a parade of allegorical floats during Carnival. The event, organized by Pro Marostica, brings the Carnival tradition inside the walls of the town famous for its chess game.
The Evening Parade of Floats
The stars of the evening are the allegorical floats and masked groups parading through the historic center. The parade, accompanied by music, dancing, costumes, and entertainment, culminates in the famous Piazza degli Scacchi (Chess Square), where the floats are awaited by the public. Leading the celebration is Harlequin, chosen as the event's testimonial.
A Celebration for the Whole Town
Admission is free, and the event is designed for families and children, creating an atmosphere of color and joy that inaugurates a new tradition for Marostica and the entire foothills region of Vicenza.
Marostica Carnival — edition 2026
The first edition of the Carnival in the walled town of Marostica takes place on Saturday, February 28, 2026 (reserve date in case of bad weather: March 7). Eight allegorical floats start from the beginning of Via Roma, pass through Porta Stazione, stop in the chessboard of Piazza degli Scacchi, and continue to the parking area along the walls of Via Stazione. The parade, led by Harlequin and accompanied by costumed groups, music, dancing, and entertainment with the voices of Radio Voice, enlivens the historic center from 8:00 PM. Free admission.

- From 8:00 PM — Start of the parade from Via Roma: eight allegorical floats and masked groups cross Porta Stazione.
- Stop in the chessboard of Piazza degli Scacchi, the heart of the event, with Harlequin as testimonial.
- Continuation towards the parking area along the walls of Via Stazione, with music, dancing, and entertainment (hosted and voiced by Radio Voice).
Reserve date in case of bad weather: March 7, 2026. Free admission.

How to Get There
Marostica can be reached by car from the A31 motorway (exit Dueville or Thiene-Schio) towards Bassano del Grappa. The nearest train station is Bassano del Grappa (about 8 km away). The parade takes place in the pedestrianized historic center.
