Collective figurative painting exhibition at Palazzo Carli in Sillico
Within the halls of Palazzo Carli, located on Via San Lorenzo in Sillico—a charming village in Pieve Fosciana, Garfagnana (province of Lucca, Tuscany)—the collective painting exhibition "Man / Nature" comes to life. The display brings together four figurative artists who each investigate, through their own unique language, one of the oldest and most relevant themes in aesthetic debate: the dialogue, sometimes harmonious and sometimes conflictual, between human beings and the natural world that surrounds them.
The exhibition brings together four painters from the Tuscany and Liguria regions, ideally divided into two thematic poles: those who celebrate the beauty of Nature, and those who place Man at the center of fantastical, timeless universes.
The exhibition is organized by the Polis Sillico Association in synergy with the Mercurio Arte Contemporanea gallery in Viareggio, with the patronage of the Municipality of Pieve Fosciana. For years, Polis Sillico has enlivened the four rooms on the top floor of Palazzo Carli with literary presentations, conferences, and cultural meetings; since 2009, the palace has hosted painting, sculpture, and photography exhibitions by both local and nationally renowned artists, making this Garfagnana village a small but vibrant art center.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog with an introduction by Gianni Costa. Visiting it is also the perfect opportunity to discover Sillico, an ancient perched village with its Palazzo Carli, and to immerse yourself in the landscapes of the Garfagnana, one of the greenest and most authentic areas of northern Tuscany.
"Man / Nature" opens its doors on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 5:00 PM with a presentation and a guided tour, and remains open until June 21, 2026, in the halls of Palazzo Carli in Sillico. The four painters on display are divided between those who exalt Nature (Annamaria Buonamici and Guido Morelli) and those who place Man at the center of fantastical universes (Armando Orfeo and Valente Taddei). The exhibition is organized by Polis Sillico with the Mercurio Arte Contemporanea gallery of Viareggio and the patronage of the Municipality of Pieve Fosciana.
The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog with an introduction by Gianni Costa.
