About Malatestian Routes

The Malatestian Routes Motorcycle Rally is the event that annually gathers two-wheel enthusiasts in Mondaino, a small village in the Rimini hinterland in Emilia-Romagna. Starting from the scenic Piazza Maggiore, the motorcycle tour winds through the green hills that were once owned by the Malatesta family, crossing towns in Romagna and the nearby Marche region. A Sunday dedicated to the passion for motorcycles, sunshine, scenic roads, and good food, organized by the Pro Loco of Mondaino with music and conviviality upon return to the square.

A Motorcycle Tour Through the Malatesta Hills

The Malatestian Routes Motorcycle Rally is one of the most anticipated motorcycle events in the Rimini hinterland. It takes place in Mondaino, a charming medieval village in the Province of Rimini, in Emilia-Romagna, famous for its unique horseshoe-shaped semi-circular square, Piazza Maggiore, and its Malatesta Fortress. The event is named after the Malatesta roads, the powerful family that dominated these territories between Romagna and Marche in the Middle Ages.

The Route

The motorcycle tour unfolds through the green hills of the Mondaino area and its surroundings. Along the route, participants cross several towns in Romagna and the nearby Marche region, rediscovering rural landscapes, scenic ridges, and ancient villages once linked to the Malatesta lordship, before returning to the circular Piazza Maggiore of Mondaino.

A Typical Day

The event is designed as a convivial Sunday open to all two-wheel enthusiasts. The morning is dedicated to registrations in Piazza Maggiore, followed by the start of the motorcycle tour. Upon return, around lunchtime, the square comes alive with lunch for all participants and musical entertainment.

  • Registration in Piazza Maggiore from the morning
  • Start of the motorcycle tour to rediscover the Malatesta routes
  • Return and lunch in Piazza Maggiore
  • Music and conviviality with the greatest hits of the '70s, '80s, and '90s

Organization and Tradition

The rally is organized by the Pro Loco of Mondaino, active in promoting the village and its events. Founded to combine the passion for motorcycles with the discovery of the territory, the Malatestian Routes has grown edition after edition to become a fixed event in the Emilia-Romagna motorcycle rally calendar, attracting bikers from all over the Rimini Riviera and beyond.

Why Participate

More than just a motorcycle ride, the Malatestian Routes is an opportunity to share the passion for two wheels in an authentic setting, made of hills, sunshine, and good Romagnola cuisine. The registration fee includes the event t-shirt, a gadget, lunch, and drinks: a simple and complete package that well represents the hospitable spirit of Mondaino and its Pro Loco.
