The Castellazzo Bormida Motorcycle Blessing is one of the most cherished events on the Piedmontese motorcycle tourism calendar. It takes place in the municipality of Castellazzo Bormida, in the province of Alessandria, at the foot of the Sanctuary of the Beata Vergine della Creta, a special place for all bikers: here lies the chapel dedicated to the Madonnina dei Centauri, recognized as the patron saint of motorcyclists worldwide.
The event is promoted by the Moto Club Castellazzo Bormida, founded in 1933 by Dr. Marco Re and one of the oldest motorcycle associations still active in Italy. For over ninety years, the club has kept the passion for two wheels alive in the Monferrato region, organizing rallies, regularity races, excursions, and cultural events related to the world of motorcycling.
A day of faith, engines, and conviviality
The Motorcycle Blessing is not just a sporting event: it is a ritual that unites the spiritual dimension with that of the motorcycling community. The morning opens with registrations and a welcome breakfast at the Sanctuary, continues with Holy Mass and the blessing of the bikes in the courtyard, and concludes with a scenic ride through the roads and hills of Monferrato. To close the festivities, an aperitif and a convivial lunch are held in the equipped area in the town center.
The initiative also has a charitable aspect: proceeds from the registration fees are traditionally donated to support the Sanctuary. The event is open to all motorcycle enthusiasts, regardless of brand or engine size, and every year it attracts bikers from all over Piedmont and neighboring regions.

The spring Motorcycle Blessing represents its most intimate and collected moment, experienced primarily by the local and Piedmontese motorcycling community.

La Motobenedizione 2026 si è tenuta domenica 3 maggio 2026 al Santuario della Beata Vergine della Creta di Castellazzo Bormida, in provincia di Alessandria. L'appuntamento, inserito nel calendario ufficiale del Comitato Regionale FMI Piemonte, ha riunito gli appassionati delle due ruote attorno alla Madonnina dei Centauri, protettrice dei motociclisti.
Come da tradizione, la giornata ha alternato il momento religioso, con la Santa Messa e la benedizione dei mezzi nel cortile del Santuario, a quello conviviale, con il giro turistico fra le colline del Monferrato e il pranzo in centro paese.
