The dance competition that becomes a TV series, filmed in Rome's television studios
The MAD Tv Dance Contest is an original format that bridges the world of dance with television production. This is not a traditional stage competition: performances by schools, academies, and groups are filmed inside professional TV studios in Rome and edited into an episodic series, culminating in the crowning of the winning group. For dancers, it is a rare opportunity to perform in front of cameras in a high-visibility, professional setting.
The contest welcomes a wide range of choreographic disciplines: classical, neoclassical, modern, contemporary, hip hop, heels, tap, flamenco, Latin American, jazz, musical, and fusion. This multidisciplinary approach makes the MAD an inclusive event, capable of bringing very different artistic languages onto the same stage. Participation is open to groups with a minimum average age of 11, with plenty of space for children and teenagers from dance schools.
Choreographies are evaluated by a jury of television and choreography professionals, including well-known figures such as Steve La Chance and Manuela Saccardi. The winning group earns the title of MAD Champion and a cash prize of 1,000 euros, awarded as compensation for their artistic performance. The event also offers scholarships, special mentions, and concrete scouting opportunities for standout performers, making the contest a true professional showcase.
The event takes place in the Municipality of Rome, in the Lazio region, within the television studios of the Tiburtina area. The choice of the capital, a natural crossroads for Italian dance and entertainment, allows the event to attract groups from all over the country and offer them a media stage that is hard to find elsewhere.
More than just a competition, the MAD Tv Dance Contest is designed as an educational and exciting journey for young dancers and their schools. The television dimension adds excitement and responsibility, while the atmosphere remains that of a great celebration of dance. It is an event that brings families, teachers, and students together through a shared passion for movement and performance.
The 2026 edition of the MAD Tv Dance Contest, the fifth, was held on May 30, 2026, in the Roman television studios in the Tiburtina area. As per the format, the performances were filmed by cameras throughout the day to be transformed into an episodic series, leading to the proclamation of the winning group and the awarding of the MAD Champion title.
The competition remained open to all choreographic styles and groups with a minimum average age of 11, confirming the inclusive and youth-oriented vocation of the event in the Municipality of Rome.
A single day of television filming, from morning to evening, with the performances of the registered groups transformed into an episodic series. All styles are admitted: classical, neoclassical, modern, contemporary, hip hop, heels, tap, flamenco, Latin American, jazz, musical, and fusion. The jury, composed of television and choreography professionals including Steve La Chance and Manuela Saccardi, determines the winning group. At the end of the process, the MAD Champion title is awarded, along with scholarships, special mentions, and scouting opportunities.
The television studios are located in the Tiburtina area of Rome, which is well connected to the city. By car, it can be reached via Via Tiburtina; by public transport, the Roma Tiburtina station (trains and Metro Line B) is the most convenient reference point, with bus connections to the studio area.
Registration is handled through the official website madevent.it. For information, you can call +39 379 352 9618 or visit the official social media channels (Instagram @mad_musicartdance, Facebook madeventitalia).
As this involves television filming, groups are advised to check schedules, performance order, and technical requirements (mp3 backing tracks, required documentation) in advance.
