The community festival dedicated to family, at the Tilane library
Macondo is named after the imaginary city from the novel 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel GarcÃa Márquez and is a community festival promoted by the Municipality of Paderno Dugnano, a city in the metropolitan area of Milan. It is a journey of reflection and sharing that explores the conflicts society presents, but also the hopes and challenges that make the family a pillar of living together.
The festival takes place on the occasion of the International Day of the Family established by the UN, with a series of events dedicated to celebrating the role of the family. The Tilane Library, located at Via Achille Grandi, is the hub of activities, supported by other city spaces.
The program is rich and designed for all ages: animated readings, gardening and creative activity workshops, craft markets (the Flug Market), acrobatics, beatbox, and juggling shows, concerts, and live music moments. There are also gastronomic offerings with food trucks and thematic meetings dedicated to educational and family topics.
Organized by the Tilane Library of the Municipality of Paderno Dugnano, in the province of Milan, Macondo is much more than a cultural review: it is an opportunity for the community to come together and reflect. The subtitle 'A Growing Village' well conveys the spirit of the event, which focuses on the collective and generative dimension of community living.
The 2026 edition of Macondo offers a series of events throughout May, coinciding with the International Day of the Family. The main event takes place on Saturday, May 16th at the Tilane library (11 am-7 pm).
The program for the highlight day includes the Flug Market for crafts, animated readings, a gardening workshop, the beatbox and juggling show 'DJ Grey Show', and a swing concert by Anita Camarella & Davide Facchini. Food trucks and thematic meetings are also planned.
The initiative is promoted by the Municipality of Paderno Dugnano and organized by the Tilane Library.
Other Macondo events take place throughout May in various city spaces.
