About Macondo

Macondo is named after the imaginary city of Gabriel García Márquez and is the community festival in Paderno Dugnano that celebrates family as a pillar of society. On the occasion of the International Day of the Family, the Tilane library and city spaces host a journey of reflection and sharing: animated readings, workshops, craft markets, concerts, and shows for all ages. An event that explores conflicts, but also the hopes and challenges of living together, in a welcoming and participatory atmosphere. Family culture and sociality in the heart of North Milan.

Macondo - A Growing Village

Macondo is named after the imaginary city from the novel 'One Hundred Years of Solitude' by Gabriel García Márquez and is a community festival promoted by the Municipality of Paderno Dugnano, a city in the metropolitan area of Milan. It is a journey of reflection and sharing that explores the conflicts society presents, but also the hopes and challenges that make the family a pillar of living together.

On the Occasion of Family Day

The festival takes place on the occasion of the International Day of the Family established by the UN, with a series of events dedicated to celebrating the role of the family. The Tilane Library, located at Via Achille Grandi, is the hub of activities, supported by other city spaces.

Readings, Workshops, and Shows

The program is rich and designed for all ages: animated readings, gardening and creative activity workshops, craft markets (the Flug Market), acrobatics, beatbox, and juggling shows, concerts, and live music moments. There are also gastronomic offerings with food trucks and thematic meetings dedicated to educational and family topics.

A Festival That Builds Community

Organized by the Tilane Library of the Municipality of Paderno Dugnano, in the province of Milan, Macondo is much more than a cultural review: it is an opportunity for the community to come together and reflect. The subtitle 'A Growing Village' well conveys the spirit of the event, which focuses on the collective and generative dimension of community living.
