The Carnival of the Lakeside Village

The Maccagno Carnival is the festival that fills Maccagno with Pino and Veddasca, a municipality on Lake Maggiore in the province of Varese, with cheerfulness. The heart of the event is Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the station area, which for the occasion is filled with masks, confetti, and laughter.

A Festival for Children and Families

The event is designed especially for children and families. The day begins with creative workshops, continues with the traditional Carnival risotto for lunch, and carries on in the afternoon with music and entertainment for the little ones, culminating in the most anticipated moment: the costume contest, with awards and typical sweets like tortelli.

Carnival Tradition

Like all popular Carnivals, the Maccagno one is also an occasion to gather, dress up, and celebrate together in the days leading up to Lent. The intimate setting of the village makes the festival particularly warm and participatory, with the square becoming the community's open-air living room.

Organised by the Pro Loco Maccagno - Lago Maggiore, the Carnival is one of the events that mark the village's year, along with other cultural and gastronomic initiatives. A simple and genuine event that enhances the sense of community and offers a day of celebration to adults and children alike, on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the province of Varese.
