Ancient Rome comes alive among the ruins of the Luni archaeological area
Lvnensia is the grand historical re-enactment of ancient Rome held in Luni, in the province of La Spezia, at the site of the ancient Roman colony of Luna. The event animates the archaeological area and the evocative Roman Amphitheater, bringing back to life the customs, traditions, and atmospheres of the ancient world.
For three days, the site is populated by military camps, tabernae (Roman shops), workshops, historical pageants, gladiatorial games, and archaeological guided tours. There are also moments dedicated to ancient cuisine, with the thermopolium and tastings inspired by Roman recipes, and cultural insights into the wine and honey of the era.
Organized by APS Amici di Luni together with the National Archaeological Museum and the Municipality, Lvnensia combines education and entertainment. Among the most evocative events are the theatrical performances in the amphitheater. An event that enhances one of Liguria's most important archaeological heritages, in the border territory between Luni and Lunigiana.
The sixth edition of Lvnensia brings the ancient Roman site of Luni to life from June 5 to 7, 2026. Three days of ancient Roman re-enactment with military camps, tabernae, workshops, historical pageants, gladiatorial games, and guided tours.
Among the events, on Saturday, June 6, the "Vinalia" wine symposium with tastings, followed by a theatrical performance in the Amphitheater in the evening; on Sunday, June 7, Apiliguria presents a session on bees and honey. Opening hours: Friday from 4 PM, Saturday from 10 AM with inauguration, Sunday until the evening with the thermopolium.
