About Lungo il Tevere

Throughout the summer, the banks of the Tiber between Ponte Sublicio and Ponte Sisto transform into a long, open-air village dedicated to culture, music, theater, books, fashion, and gastronomy. Live concerts, book presentations, talk shows, and performances take place every evening in the heart of Trastevere and the Ripa district, with free admission and an atmosphere that has made 'Lungo il Tevere Rome' one of the iconic events of the Roman summer nights.

A river of culture in the heart of Rome

Lungo il Tevere Rome is one of the most beloved and long-standing events of the capital's summer. Every evening, for nearly three months, the riverbanks are filled with Romans and tourists strolling among the stalls, listening to live music, and attending book presentations and theatrical performances under the Roman sky. The event stretches along the banks of the Tiber, in the section between Ponte Sublicio and Ponte Sisto, straddling the Trastevere and Ripa districts, with main entrances at Ponte Sublicio, Ponte Garibaldi, and Ponte Sisto.

Culture, music, and gastronomy under the stars

Organized by the Associazione Culturale La Vela d'Oro, the festival blends entertainment and cultural offerings with a rich program: concerts, theatrical shows, meetings with writers and journalists, photography exhibitions, fashion shows, and plenty of handicrafts. Each edition features dozens of commercial stands, numerous dining spots, and hundreds of artistic performances spread along the entire riverside walk.

  • Books: an open-air literary salon with presentations and meet-the-author events.
  • Live music: the soundtrack of Roman summer evenings.
  • Talk shows and events: institutional appointments and showcases of local excellence.
  • Food, crafts, and stalls: cuisine, artisanal creations, and street food along the banks.

The Salotto Tevere

The beating heart of the event is the Salotto Tevere, a space dedicated to book presentations, cultural gatherings, concerts, theater, and live performances, hosted by artists, writers, and journalists. This is where the most anticipated events of the calendar are concentrated, attracting a large and diverse audience every year.

A symbol of the Roman summer

With over two million visitors a year, 'Lungo il Tevere Rome' has become an unmissable ritual of the city's summer. The free-entry formula, the nocturnal atmosphere, and the scenic location between Trastevere and Tiber Island make it a perfect stop for those wanting to discover a different side of Rome, experienced slowly along its river. The event is held in the Municipality of Rome, in the Metropolitan City of Rome (Lazio).

Lungo il Tevere — edition 2026

The 24th edition of 'Lungo il Tevere Rome' brings the riverbanks to life from June 6 to August 30, 2026, every evening from 7:00 PM to 2:00 AM. A river of culture featuring concerts, book presentations, theater, talk shows, fashion, crafts, and gastronomy, with free admission in the heart of Trastevere.

The 24th edition of Lungo il Tevere Rome returns to the riverbanks, in the stretch between Ponte Sublicio and Ponte Sisto, with over 200 events on the bill and the unmissable Salotto Tevere as the heart of the program. Live concerts, meetings with writers and journalists, theatrical performances, exhibitions, and fashion shows alternate every evening, alongside craft stalls, curiosities, and numerous dining spots. Among the new features of this edition is a special focus on civil and environmental themes, from road safety to sustainable mobility, along with collaborations with local associations.
