About Living Nativity Palazzo

The Living Nativity of Palazzo San Gervasio transforms the historic center into a Bethlehem of yesteryear: along Corso Manfredi, ancient crafts, Nativity scenes, and young performers bring the Christmas story to life, culminating in the Epiphany finale with the arrival of the Three Kings.

Christmas Comes Alive in the Village

Amidst the lights and scents of a Lucanian Christmas, Palazzo San Gervasio—a village in the Alto Bradano area of the province of Potenza—stages one of the most beloved holiday traditions: the Living Nativity. Along Corso Manfredi and the streets of the historic center, the town transforms into a Nativity village, where simplicity becomes emotion and tradition comes back to life.

Crafts, Costumes, and Young Performers

The route is a journey through time: houses and courtyards become workshops of ancient crafts, with artisans at work and scenes of daily life from two thousand years ago. Bringing the scenes to life are primarily the children of the village, in a nativity scene designed also as a celebration for the younger community—"little actors, big emotions"—amidst costumes, lights, and great joy for all ages.

The Grand Finale with the Three Kings

The festivities conclude with the most anticipated moment: on Epiphany day, the Three Kings arrive, welcomed by the community in the heart of the reenactment. Organized by PSG Eventi as part of the Palazzese Christmas, the Living Nativity is an event that combines devotion, popular participation, and a Christmas atmosphere, attracting visitors from neighboring towns as well.
