About Like an Open Book

Like an Open Book is the summer literary review that enlivens the village of Mondolfo and the seaside hamlet of Marotta, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino. Between the Cloister of Sant'Agostino, the squares, and the pier of Marotta, eleven free evenings bring Italian writers, journalists, and cultural figures to dialogue with the public under the stars. Honorarily chaired by journalist Marino Bartoletti, the event promoted by the Municipality of Mondolfo has become one of the most anticipated cultural events of the Marche summer.

A Literary Review Under the Marche Stars

Like an Open Book is the literary review that every summer transforms the Municipality of Mondolfo, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino (Marche), and its seaside hamlet of Marotta into a large open-air cultural lounge. Born in 2022, the event is spread across the territory and time: the meetings unfold in the most evocative places of the village and the coast, from the Cloister of Sant'Agostino to Piazza dell'Unificazione in Marotta, up to the pier overlooking the Adriatic.

The Format: Free Encounters with Authors

The heart of the review is the evening encounters where writers, journalists, television personalities, and cultural voices from Italy present their books and engage in one-on-one dialogues with the public. All events are free admission and are generally held in the evening, when the cool of the evening makes staying in the squares pleasant. The review is honorarily chaired by journalist Marino Bartoletti and is promoted by the Municipality of Mondolfo in collaboration with the Mondadori Bookstore of Fano and with the patronage of the Region of Marche.

A Literary Prize and a Theme Each Year

Each edition revolves around a theme that serves as a common thread for the meetings, and on some evenings, the "Like an Open Book" Award is presented to a particularly significant author. Over the years, the review has hosted leading names from the national literary and entertainment scene, confirming its growth and its ability to unite a large audience with quality offerings.

Mondolfo, One of Italy's Most Beautiful Villages

The setting is that of Mondolfo, part of the circuit of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, with its compact historic center and Malatesta walls, and that of Marotta, a lively seaside resort on the Adriatic Riviera. This dual soul โ€” hilly and marine โ€” is one of the distinctive features of the review, which invites residents and tourists to experience culture as an opportunity for meeting and discovering the territory.

Why Participate

  • Free encounters with national and international renowned authors
  • Evocative settings between the historic village and the Riviera
  • A summer of culture accessible to everyone, adults and children
  • An opportunity to discover Mondolfo and Marotta in the Marche region
