Les Voix du Vivant: biodiversity through the French language

In the heart of Rome's historic center, just a stone's throw from Piazza Navona, the Institut français Centre Saint-Louis hosts the first edition of Les Voix du Vivant, a festival blending French culture with environmental awareness. Scheduled for May 22, 2026, the event celebrates the International Day for Biological Diversity with a day of screenings, meetings, and activities designed to foster a dialogue between the public and the natural world. It brings a shared reflection on the planet's future to the Italian capital and the Lazio region.

A festival spanning Rome, Palermo, and Turin

Promoted by the Institut français Italia, the Institut français Centre Saint-Louis, and the network of Alliances Françaises in Italy, Les Voix du Vivant is a multi-city event: alongside Rome, the festival takes place simultaneously in Palermo and Turin, uniting various Italian cities around a single theme. The French language becomes a tool for scientific discovery and cultural exchange, with content accessible to all levels, from beginners to experts.

The program of the first edition

The Roman event is specifically dedicated to schools and younger audiences, featuring a path that weaves together scientific outreach and interactive challenges:

• 9:30 AM - 11:00 AM — Screening of the documentary "Les gardiennes de la nature": the film follows four women committed to protecting the Mediterranean across Italy, France, Greece, and Spain (multilingual version with Italian subtitles, suitable for all levels). Followed by a debate with marine biologist Giulia Bernardi.
• 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM — Workshop "À la découverte des animaux": an educational game to test knowledge of global fauna, aimed at students aged 12 to 16 (level A1).
• 11:30 AM - 1:00 PM — Escape game "Mission biodiversité: l'agent 00Vert": an adventurous mission to save endangered Italian species, designed for students aged 16 to 19 (level B1).

A free event in the heart of Rome

Admission to Les Voix du Vivant is free upon reservation, subject to availability. The Institut français Centre Saint-Louis, located in Largo Toniolo, is in the Sant'Eustachio district, one of the most charming areas of Rome, perfect for combining the festival with a stroll through the city center.
