The big May Day celebration at Elephant Park in Marina di Ginosa
In just a few years, the Leisure Time Festival has become one of the most anticipated May Day events in the Ionian Metapontino area. It takes place at Elephant Park, the large multi-functional park in Contrada Pizziferro in Marina di Ginosa, a seaside district of the Ginosa municipality, in the province of Taranto, Apulia. For an entire day, this green space immersed in nature turns into a true experiential village, with areas and activities designed to engage all ages.
The festival was born from the idea of bringing music, sports, art, gastronomy, and entertainment together in one place, creating an inclusive atmosphere accessible to everyone. The format is that of a large, widespread celebration where every corner of the park offers something different.
Music accompanies the festival from morning until night, spread across multiple stages set up in different zones of the park. As the sun sets, the spaces come alive with live performances and DJ sets, ranging from reggae and electronic to house music, featuring artists and crews from the Apulian and national scenes performing until late in the evening.
One of the strengths of the Leisure Time Festival is its free admission, with mandatory registration. This choice has made the event a landmark for families in the Ionian region, between Apulia and Basilicata, who choose Elephant Park every May Day to spend a day in the open air. Its location in Marina di Ginosa, just a short walk from the pine forest and the beaches of the Ionian coast, also makes it a great opportunity to discover this stretch of the Taranto coastline at the start of the summer season.
The third edition of the Leisure Time Festival at Elephant Park in Marina di Ginosa took place on Friday, May 1st, 2026, with gates opening at 10 AM. The Contrada Pizziferro park transformed into a large experiential village, featuring activities for children (inflatables, mini boat rides on the pond, creative workshops, kites), an adventure area (soft climbing, wipe-out, soft air), sports (soccer, basketball, human foosball, horseback riding, target shooting), a funfair, tethered hot air balloon rides, a mechanical bull, and a food area with Apulian specialties and street food.
The soundtrack of the day was provided by multiple stages (Central Bar, Isla, Terrazze, Prato) with live performances and DJ sets that, from sunset onwards, featured Dimmish, Vanny Granata, Petty Rose, I&I Project Sound, Fido Guido, Brigante, Papa Buju, and Irie Crew, among others. Admission was free with mandatory registration on the DICE platform.
