The widespread exhibition of nativity scenes in the streets and places of Sesto San Giovanni
Le Vie del Presepe is one of the most cherished Christmas traditions in Sesto San Giovanni, in the Metropolitan City of Milan. Every year, the city transforms into a grand itinerary of nativity scenes, set up in various locations scattered across the neighbourhoods: shops, schools, churches, oratories, apartment buildings, and associations participate by creating their own nativity displays.
The heart of the event lies in its participatory and widespread nature. The nativity scenes, displayed from December 8th, create a route that crosses all of Sesto, inviting citizens and visitors to discover the different interpretations of the tradition. Shops, educational institutions, parish communities, and neighbourhood groups compete in creativity, shaping an open-air exhibition that tells the story of the city's Christmas spirit.
The event opens with a concert: in recent editions, the inauguration was held at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta with a gospel choir performance. The nativity scenes remain open for viewing throughout the Christmas season, until Epiphany. The conclusion is marked by the awards ceremony, which in the last editions took place in early February at the Grand Hotel Villa Torretta.
Le Vie del Presepe represents much more than just an exhibition: it is a moment of sharing that strengthens the sense of community and enhances the heritage of the nativity scene tradition. Included in the rich Christmas program of Sesto San Giovanni, it accompanies the festivities with an itinerary of faith, popular art, and creativity.
Le Vie del Presepe returns to Sesto San Giovanni with the usual widespread exhibition. The opening is scheduled for November 30th at the Church of Santa Maria Assunta with a gospel concert; the nativity scenes, set up in shops, schools, churches, oratories, apartment buildings, and associations, can be viewed from December 8th until Epiphany. The awards ceremony will be held in early February 2027 at the Grand Hotel Villa Torretta.
