"Le Dimore della Musica" is a festival promoted by the Società del Quartetto di Vicenza together with the Dimore Amiche del Veneto circuit, which brings ancient and baroque music to historic villas, palaces, and castles in the provinces of Vicenza and Padua. An opportunity to listen to great pieces from the repertoire in exceptional architectural settings.
Thiene Castle as a stage
Among the festival venues, Thiene Castle (Palazzo Colleoni Porto) stands out, a splendid 15th-century Gothic residence in the heart of Thiene (province of Vicenza). Its historic halls provide the backdrop for a highly refined baroque concert, where voice and harpsichord dialogue with the acoustics and atmosphere of the place.
Händel, Purcell, and Legrenzi
The program ranges from Georg Friedrich Händel to Henry Purcell, including the adopted Vicentine Giovanni Legrenzi. A journey through European baroque that enhances the region's musical and architectural heritage, making a high-level cultural experience accessible to all at a symbolic price.
Le Dimore della Musica — edition 2026
The concert on May 22, 2026, opens the summer season of Thiene Castle. The performers are soprano Alice Fraccari and harpsichordist Enrico Bissolo, in a program ranging from Händel to Purcell, including Giovanni Legrenzi.
The heart of the concert is Händel's cantata Armida abbandonata HWV 105, composed in 1707 for soprano, strings, and continuo. Also scheduled are the Chaconne in G major HWV 435 for solo harpsichord, "O let me weep" from Purcell's Fairy Queen, and Legrenzi's canzonetta "Non c'è che dire, la voglio così".

Thiene is reachable by car from the A31 Valdastico (Thiene exit) and by train on the Vicenza–Schio line. Thiene Castle is located in the historic center, along Corso Garibaldi.
