Vicenza in Lirica – Contesti is the festival that dedicates a month to opera and music in the most evocative settings of Vicenza and its territory. The artistic direction of Andrea Castello builds a journey each year that dialogues between major melodrama titles and symbolic places of Venetian architecture: Palladio's Olympic Theatre, Venetian villas, and castles of the Vicenza area.
Major Titles and Young Talents
The festival pairs productions of masterpieces from the repertoire with an important mission to promote young performers: many productions are entrusted to the winners of the Tullio Serafin Opera Competition, making Vicenza in Lirica a showcase for the new generations of singers. Concerts, operas, and scattered events make up a rich and varied program.
A Heritage on Stage
Organized in Vicenza, in the province of Vicenza, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Veneto Region, and in collaboration with the Teatro La Fenice, the festival transforms Venetian architectural heritage into a stage. From the villas of Montecchio Maggiore and Bagnolo di Lonigo to the Olympic Theatre, each location tells a deep connection between music and place.

The fourteenth edition of Vicenza in Lirica – Contesti takes place from August 21 to September 20, 2026, with artistic direction by Andrea Castello. A month of opera and music between the Olympic Theatre, the Venetian villas, and the castles of the Vicenza area, with the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Veneto Region, and in collaboration with the Teatro La Fenice.

- August 21, 9:00 PM — Castle of Villa di Montecchio Maggiore (Romeo's Castle): Mozart's 'Le nozze di Figaro', in a semi-staged version (possible encore on August 22 in case of bad weather)
- September 6, 9:00 PM — Olympic Theatre: official opening with Rossini's 'Petite Messe Solennelle' in orchestral version
- September 10, 8:30 PM — Olympic Theatre: open dress rehearsal of 'Il barbiere di Siviglia'
- September 12, 8:30 PM and September 13, 7:00 PM — Olympic Theatre: Rossini's 'Il barbiere di Siviglia', new production entrusted to the winners of the IX Tullio Serafin Opera Competition
- September 11, 9:00 PM — Cava de' Cice in Zovencedo: concert dedicated to Ennio Morricone
- September 14, 8:30 PM — Olympic Theatre: Galuppi's 'Il Filosofo di campagna', production by the 'A. Steffani' Conservatory of Castelfranco Veneto
- September 20, 5:00 PM — Villa Pisani Bonetti in Bagnolo di Lonigo: closing with Monteverdi's 'L'Orfeo'
