About Lavender Festival
A sea of lavender in the heart of Umbria
The Lavender Festival takes place at Il Lavandeto di Assisi, in Castelnuovo di Assisi, a hamlet of the Municipality of Assisi (province of Perugia, in Umbria). It is a garden of about three hectares dedicated to aromatic plants, where every year, during the flowering period, the lavender rows turn purple, creating a suggestive scenario with the Basilica of Saint Francis and the Umbrian hills as a backdrop.
Among the fragrant rows
During the festival, visitors can walk among the blooming rows, participate in guided tours of the garden, and witness the distillation of lavender, discovering how essential oils and natural products are obtained. There are also areas dedicated to ornamental sages and medicinal plants, as well as a nursery with lavender plants and products.
Picnics, ice cream, and music
The experience is enhanced by refreshment areas, the famous lavender ice cream, and, on Friday and Saturday evenings, picnics among the rows accompanied by live music or DJ sets. An event loved by families, photographers, and nature lovers, which combines the beauty of the Umbrian agricultural landscape with the charm of a place just a few kilometers from the city of Saint Francis.
Lavender Festival — edition 2026
The 17th edition of the Lavender Festival at Il Lavandeto di Assisi will be held on the weekends of June and July 2026: June 13-14, 20-21, 27-28, and July 4-5, with opening hours from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. The blooming period is also open for visits from June 10 to July 10, Monday to Friday.
The event takes place in the three-hectare garden of Castelnuovo di Assisi, with the Basilica of Saint Francis as a backdrop.

How to get there
Il Lavandeto di Assisi is located at Via dei Laghetti 15, in Castelnuovo di Assisi. It is easily reachable by car; the reference train station is Assisi-Santa Maria degli Angeli.
Admission and hours
During the festival, opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM; admission requires the purchase of a bunch of lavender (free for children up to 10 years old). Evening picnics on Fridays and Saturdays are by reservation.
