About Latium Festival Anzio

The Latium World Folkloric Festival arrives in Anzio with its spectacular world folklore parade. For two evenings, folk dance and music groups from across the globe march through the city center, from Villa Sarsina to Piazza Garibaldi, showcasing traditional costumes, rhythms, and choreographies from distant lands. This free, international event is open to everyone, bringing a message of peace, solidarity, and tolerance to the Lazio coast.

World folklore comes to Anzio

Every summer, the Latium World Folkloric Festival travels across the Lazio region, bringing the music, dance, and folk arts of many countries to the public squares. One of the most anticipated stops is Anzio, on the coast of the Metropolitan City of Rome, where the festival presents its most engaging feature: the world folklore parade. For two consecutive evenings, guest groups march in traditional attire through the city center, turning the seaside town into an open-air stage.

An international parade through the center

The procession starts at Villa Sarsina and reaches Piazza Garibaldi, the beating heart of Anzio's city life. Drums, accordions, wind instruments, and traditional tools accompany dancers in colorful outfits, while the public lines both sides of the route. It is a joyful, family-friendly celebration where each group shares the story of their homeland through dance, music, and costumes passed down through generations.

A circuit that unites Lazio

The Anzio stop is part of a larger traveling route: the Latium World Folkloric Festival visits various historic cities in Lazio each year—including Rome, Cori, Cisterna di Latina, Sezze, Paliano, Segni, and Sermoneta—for about two weeks between late July and early August. Hundreds of young artists, gathered in a dozen international groups, animate parades, evening shows, and cultural exchange meetings. The event, born in 2007 from the experience of the "Festival della Collina" in Cori, operates according to the principles of CIOFF, an UNESCO partner organization for the safeguarding of intangible cultural heritage.

Music, dance, and folk cultures

The festival focuses on the world's folk traditions: folkloric dances, ethnic music, choral singing, and rhythms ranging from Eastern Europe to Latin America, and from Asia to the Mediterranean. In Anzio, beyond the parade, the atmosphere is enriched by the seaside summer setting, with the audience watching outdoors in one of the most evocative evenings of the city calendar.

Anzio and the "A Sea of Emotions" summer

The Anzio stop is part of the Municipality of Anzio's summer program, "Un mare di emozioni #civediamoadanzio" (A sea of emotions #seeyouinanzio), which brings together over 150 appointments including concerts, sporting events, cultural initiatives, and children's activities from July to September. In this context, the world folklore parade is one of the summer's signature events, attracting both residents and tourists visiting the Lazio coast.
