The show dedicated to Fred Buscaglione as part of the Lakescapes festival in Colazza
"All of Fred's Women" is the event that the Lakescapes — Diffused Theatre of Lake Maggiore festival dedicates to the town of Colazza, in the province of Novara, in the heart of the Piedmont region overlooking Lake Maggiore. The show takes place in Piazza Ragazzoni, one of the most evocative settings where the festival hosts its events among the lakeside villages.
At the heart of the evening is the figure of Fred Buscaglione, an icon of 1950s Italian music. The show tells his life story through the voices of the five most important women in his life, who take turns on stage to reconstruct his history. In the background hovers the ghost of Fred himself, returning to do the two things he did best: sing and drink. A narrative that weaves together live music, theatre, and irony, in the signature style of the Accademia dei Folli.
Conceived and directed by the Turin-based music and theatre company Accademia dei Folli, under the artistic direction of Carlo Roncaglia, Lakescapes is a diffused theatre project that brings performances directly to the most picturesque locations on Lake Maggiore. The festival is promoted by a network of lakeside municipalities — including Briga Novarese, Colazza, Dormelletto, Lesa, Meina, Mergozzo, and Sesto Calende — and offers a programme ranging from great literary classics revisited in a pop key to musical portraits of Italian and international artists, as well as itinerant "white nights" in historic villages.
Colazza is a small town in the province of Novara located on the hills overlooking the Piedmontese shore of Lake Maggiore. Including it in the Lakescapes circuit means enhancing the cultural and landscape heritage of Upper Piedmont, offering spectators the chance to experience open-air theatre in a setting of great charm, between the lake and the mountains.
The 2026 edition of Lakescapes, the 12th of the festival, brings the show "All of Fred's Women" to Colazza, on stage Thursday, August 13, 2026, in Piazza Ragazzoni.
The tribute to Fred Buscaglione weaves together live music and theatre: the five most important women in his life alternate to reconstruct his trajectory, while the singer's ghost hovers on stage. The evening is part of a programme of 18 events distributed between May and November in the municipalities of Lake Maggiore, under the artistic direction of Carlo Roncaglia.
