LAIVin Plus Festival

A theatre festival for young people

The LAIVin Plus Festival is an event that transforms Cassano Valcuvia, a municipality in the Province of Varese nestled in Valcuvia, into a large, widespread theatre laboratory. For three days, the town becomes the stage for an event dedicated to theatre, music, and social inclusion, designed to give a voice to young people and their creativity.

Three hundred students, twelve performances

The festival involves around three hundred students from eleven schools in Lombardy and Piedmont, who stage twelve performances. The themes addressed range from war to peace, from the climate crisis to dreams, from migration experiences to emotional relationships: theatre thus becomes a judgment-free space where young people can express themselves and share their stories.

Inclusion and special projects

Among the most significant projects is 'Superabili', a multi-year theatre workshop involving people with disabilities, in collaboration with Anffas Luino and other local organizations, where each participant discovers the character to play on stage. There is also space for high school projects, such as the students from Liceo Sereni in Luino with scenes from the musical 'Saturday Night Fever'.

The festival venues

The performances take place at the Teatro Comunale in Cassano Valcuvia and in various locations around the town, including immersive experiences along the trenches of the Cadorna Line, a testament to the First World War. Promoted by Teatro Periferico with Alchemilla and Teatro Magro, under the artistic direction of Paola Manfredi and with the support of Fondazione Cariplo, LAIVin Plus is a festival that makes community and youth expression its beating heart.
