The Italian summer New Year's Eve on the Riviera, in Cattolica
La Notte Rosa is the grand festival that for over twenty years has marked the official start of summer on the Romagna Riviera. Born in 2006, it is considered the true New Year's Eve of the Italian summer: a single night, or rather an entire weekend, during which the Adriatic coast turns pink with concerts, DJ sets, entertainment, and fireworks displays that simultaneously illuminate the coastline from Comacchio to Cattolica.
In Cattolica, a pearl of the Riviera in the Province of Rimini, the event is one of the most anticipated of the year. The heart of the celebration is Piazza Primo Maggio, which transforms into a large open-air stage overlooking the sea, while the entire town dresses in pink among clubs, beaches, and the promenade.
La Notte Rosa is not a festival for just one location: it is a coordinated event involving dozens of municipalities in coastal and inland Emilia-Romagna, under the coordination of Visit Romagna. Each city offers its own program, but all share the same spirit: free music, hospitality, fun, and the color pink as a common thread. The most evocative moment remains the midnight fireworks display, synchronized along the entire coast.
In Cattolica, La Notte Rosa combines major Italian music and entertainment stars with dance evenings hosted by local radio stations. A must-see event is the pink illumination of the architecture of the Cattolica Aquarium, one of the largest in the Adriatic, which opens its doors with special evening openings.
Designed for families, young people, and tourists, La Notte Rosa in Cattolica is the ideal setting to experience the warm Romagna hospitality and kick off the bathing season.
The 2026 edition of La Notte Rosa is the 21st and takes place from Friday, June 19 to Sunday, June 21, 2026, with the theme 'Hit's Summer', dedicated to the music that accompanies the Italian summer. The event, coordinated by Visit Romagna with ambassador Claudio Cecchetto, involves the entire Romagna Riviera with major guests such as J-Ax, Nomadi, Dargen D'Amico, Fred De Palma, and Nina Zilli, as well as the grand finale on Sunday, June 21 in Bellaria Igea Marina with the Air Show of the Frecce Tricolori. In Cattolica, the spotlight is on Piazza Primo Maggio and the Aquarium.
The event is part of the widespread program of the Riviera, which on June 19 features the simultaneous fireworks display along the entire coast and, on Sunday, June 21, the Frecce Tricolori Air Show in Bellaria Igea Marina.
By train: Cattolica-San Giovanni-Gabicce station is on the Adriatic line Bologna-Ancona, well-connected with Rimini and Riccione.
By car: Cattolica exit from the A14 motorway. Traffic restrictions are in place in the center during the event: peripheral parking and shuttle bus connections are recommended.
Concerts in the square and the fireworks display are free. Any special openings of the Cattolica Aquarium are subject to charges according to the facility's rates.
The hotels on the Riviera are fully booked during the Notte Rosa weekend: book well in advance. Wearing something pink is the tradition of the festival.
