The Versilia stop of the traveling festival conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi
La Milanesiana is one of Italy's most ambitious cultural festivals: founded in Milan in 2000 and always conceived and directed by Elisabetta Sgarbi, it is a traveling event that visits dozens of Italian cities every year, uniting literature, music, cinema, science, art, philosophy, theater, law, economics, sports, and comics under a single theme. Its stop in Viareggio, in the heart of Versilia (Province of Lucca, Tuscany), is now a highly anticipated appointment, hosted at the Teatro Eden on Viale Regina Margherita, just a few steps from the seafront.
What makes La Milanesiana different from other festivals is its multidisciplinary nature: in a single evening, you might listen to a writer, a philosopher, or a scientist, followed immediately by a concert or a theatrical performance. Each edition revolves around a guiding theme that runs through all the festival's stops, giving coherence to a program that ranges from the page to the stage. In Viareggio, this dialogue between disciplines finds an ideal setting in a city that thrives on culture, entertainment, and seaside tradition.
The presence of La Milanesiana in Viareggio is part of the long cultural tradition of this Versilia town, which has always been linked to theater, music, and literature. The events, organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Viareggio, bring prominent names from the national and international scene to the stage of the Teatro Eden, offering local audiences and tourists on the Tuscan coast an opportunity to meet leading authors, musicians, and artists.
For those spending the summer in Versilia or living in Tuscany, the Viareggio stop of La Milanesiana is a precious opportunity to experience great culture by the sea.
The 2026 Viareggio stop of La Milanesiana is part of the 27th edition of the festival, this year dedicated to the theme "Desire and the Law", two opposing but deeply intertwined forces. The event at the Teatro Eden in Viareggio is organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Viareggio and confirms the festival's bond with Versilia.
The highlight of the evening is the tribute to Enzo Jannacci, one of the most beloved figures of Italian singer-songwriting, reinterpreted through music and storytelling. A unique evening that combines a concert and narration, faithful to the multidisciplinary formula that characterizes all stages of La Milanesiana.
"Jannacci arrenditi! La città ascolta" — a tribute to Enzo Jannacci, between music and words.
