The Christmas event programme in Castellammare di Stabia
La Luce di Stabia is the Christmas event programme promoted by the Municipality of Castellammare di Stabia, a city in the Vesuvius area in the province of Naples, Campania. Created as a project to illuminate and animate the festive season, the event gathers around forty appointments under a single name, distributed throughout the historic centre, churches, theatres, the Villa Comunale, and the city's green spaces, with the support of the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Chamber of Commerce.
The programme runs from December 6th until January 19th, the feast day of the patron saint San Catello, covering the entire festive period from the Immaculate Conception to Epiphany and beyond. The symbolic moment is The Night of Light, featuring the lighting of Christmas trees in various districts and kilometres of illuminations that decorate the city. Around this luminous thread, a rich calendar of initiatives is developed for residents and visitors of all ages.
Castellammare di Stabia, overlooking the Gulf of Naples between Mount Vesuvius and the Sorrento Peninsula, experiences Christmas as a moment of strong community identity. The programme highlights the heritage of the historic centre and culminates in the feast of San Catello, the city's patron saint, on January 19th: a deep bond between devotion, popular traditions, and city life that makes La Luce di Stabia much more than a simple Christmas festival.
The second edition of the Christmas programme by the Municipality of Castellammare di Stabia, supported by the Metropolitan City of Naples and the Chamber of Commerce. Around forty events accompanied the city from the Immaculate Conception until the feast of San Catello on January 19th, with a special moment on December 22nd: the arrival of the Milano-Cortina 2026 Olympic Flame.
Castellammare di Stabia is served by the Circumvesuviana railway (Naples-Sorrento line) and the national railway station. By car, take the Castellammare di Stabia exit on the A3 Naples-Salerno motorway. Events take place primarily in the historic centre, the Villa Comunale, and various local theatres and churches.
Most events are free to attend. For the updated programme and times, it is recommended to check the official channels of the Municipality of Castellammare di Stabia and local press.
