The traditional festival of the village of Riscone, at the foot of Plan de Corones
The Kirchtag in Reischach, known in Italian as the Sagra di Riscone, is the traditional festival of the village of Riscone/Reischach, part of the municipality of Brunico/Bruneck in South Tyrol. It takes place every year at the end of June at the village pavilion, nestled at the foot of the Plan de Corones (Kronplatz) massif, the iconic mountain of the Puster Valley. In South Tyrolean tradition, the term Kirchtag refers to the local patronal feast, an event that brings the entire community together through music, dance, and fine dining.
The festival is organized by the Musikkapelle Reischach, the local brass band, which serves as its beating heart. The program spans two days and features a mix of concerts by brass bands from neighboring Puster Valley towns and even Austria, live entertainment, and the traditional Schuhplattler of Reischach—a rhythmic Tyrolean folk dance involving striking the shoes and leather breeches.
Beyond the music, the Kirchtag offers visitors the chance to savor South Tyrolean and Puster Valley specialties: traditional dishes, local pastries, beer, and regional beverages, all served in a highly convivial atmosphere. The festival is an authentic opportunity to discover the folklore and traditions of the German-speaking community of South Tyrol, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Dolomite meadows and peaks.
The Kirchtag in Reischach is a free event open to everyone, making it ideal for families, residents, and tourists vacationing in the Plan de Corones area. The combination of live music, traditional dance, and local gastronomy makes it one of the most cherished summer highlights in Riscone, capturing the warmth and identity of a mountain village in South Tyrol.
