Kebanda - Formia Street Band Festival

A festival that walks through the city

The Kebanda - Formia Street Band Festival is the ultimate street music celebration in the Municipality of Formia, located in the province of Latina, in southern Lazio. This is not a concert with a fixed stage and seated audience; it is a traveling festival where bands parade through squares, alleys, and along the seafront, drawing passersby into the rhythm. The audience doesn't just watch the show—they become part of it.

The format follows the style of major European street band festivals: wind and percussion groups playing on the move, without amplification, mixing Balkan, funk, ska, American brass band, Latin rhythms, and pop reinterpretations. Over the years, Formia has hosted top national and international acts, with recurring favorites such as Zastava Orkestar, Funkasin Street Band, Takabum Street Band, and Brincadeira.

Two settings: the square and the beach

The 2026 edition features two complementary hubs. On one hand, Piazza Aldo Moro, the urban heart where evening performances and parades toward the center are concentrated. On the other, the beach of Gianola, located within the Riviera di Ulisse Regional Park, where performances move onto the sand at sunset, in one of the most picturesque corners of the Gulf of Gaeta.

This dual setting is the festival's hallmark: street music meets the coastal landscape, and the city tells its story through its neighborhoods. In previous editions, the festival has also involved the villages of Castellone and Mola, the Vindicio coastline, and Piazza della Vittoria, with evenings intertwined with other events of the Formia summer season.

ViviMare and the spirit of participation

The festival is conceived and organized by the ViviMare APS Association, a local organization that has been working for years to promote the cultural and tourism value of Formia. The initiative is part of the Estate Formiana 2026 - Bellezza senza tempo (Formia Summer 2026 - Timeless Beauty) program, the calendar of events promoted by the Municipality from July to September, which also includes the Classical Theatre Festival at the Caposele Archaeological Area and the Jazzflirt Festival.

Alongside musical performances, Kebanda editions have hosted street artists, fire and light shows, family entertainment, and food stalls, with a strong focus on local commerce and the livability of the city center at night. It is an event designed for all ages: children follow the bands on foot, while adults rediscover streets they usually only traverse by car.

Those arriving for Kebanda will find much more than two evenings of music: a weekend in southern Lazio, between the sea, gastronomic traditions, and archaeological heritage.
