About July at the Museum

July at the Museum is the summer chamber music festival that transforms the halls of the Campanian Museum of Capua, in the province of Caserta, into a refined stage every year. As the summer chapter of the Summer Concert program curated by the Anna Jervolino Association and the Chamber Orchestra of Caserta, it offers six events featuring Italian and international performers: accordions, string trios, and chamber ensembles alternate in a journey ranging from revisited Baroque to the 20th century, in a museum setting unique to Campania.

Chamber music among the artifacts of the Campanian Museum

July at the Museum is the concert series that enlivens the Campanian Museum of Capua every July, in the heart of the province of Caserta, in Campania. The initiative is the summer chapter of the Summer Concert program, through which the Anna Jervolino Association and the Chamber Orchestra of Caserta extend the activities of their historic Autumn Musical—one of the longest-running concert seasons in the Terra di Lavoro region—into the summer season.

For a few evenings, the museum's halls, famous for their Matres Matutae, transform into an intimate auditorium: an evocative dialogue between the archaeological and artistic heritage of Capua and great chamber music, bringing the audience closer to the performers in a cozy and fascinating setting.

A journey through eras and ensembles

The program prioritizes variety, alternating instruments and repertoires: it moves from solo accordion and original ensembles like the Trio Choré and the Orpheus Accordion Quartet, capable of reinventing Baroque and contemporary literature, to classic chamber formations such as string trios and piano trios. The repertoire spans over two centuries of music history, from Bach and Beethoven to Piazzolla, Shostakovich, and 20th-century composers.

Italian and international performers

Each edition brings prominent soloists and chamber ensembles to Capua. The protagonists include artists awarded in prestigious international competitions and groups from abroad, in a balance between young talents and established musicians that is a hallmark of the festival. Evening concerts generally begin at 8:00 PM, while Sunday events are held as matinées.

A cultural project for the region

July at the Museum is part of a broader plan to promote the Municipality of Capua and its province, combining musical outreach, tourism promotion, and the rediscovery of one of the most important museums in Campania. Admission to the concerts is included in the Campanian Museum ticket, a formula that invites the public to experience art and music together in a single visit.
