Six evenings of chamber music in the heart of the Campanian Museum of Capua
July at the Museum is the concert series that enlivens the Campanian Museum of Capua every July, in the heart of the province of Caserta, in Campania. The initiative is the summer chapter of the Summer Concert program, through which the Anna Jervolino Association and the Chamber Orchestra of Caserta extend the activities of their historic Autumn Musical—one of the longest-running concert seasons in the Terra di Lavoro region—into the summer season.
For a few evenings, the museum's halls, famous for their Matres Matutae, transform into an intimate auditorium: an evocative dialogue between the archaeological and artistic heritage of Capua and great chamber music, bringing the audience closer to the performers in a cozy and fascinating setting.
The program prioritizes variety, alternating instruments and repertoires: it moves from solo accordion and original ensembles like the Trio Choré and the Orpheus Accordion Quartet, capable of reinventing Baroque and contemporary literature, to classic chamber formations such as string trios and piano trios. The repertoire spans over two centuries of music history, from Bach and Beethoven to Piazzolla, Shostakovich, and 20th-century composers.
Each edition brings prominent soloists and chamber ensembles to Capua. The protagonists include artists awarded in prestigious international competitions and groups from abroad, in a balance between young talents and established musicians that is a hallmark of the festival. Evening concerts generally begin at 8:00 PM, while Sunday events are held as matinées.
July at the Museum is part of a broader plan to promote the Municipality of Capua and its province, combining musical outreach, tourism promotion, and the rediscovery of one of the most important museums in Campania. Admission to the concerts is included in the Campanian Museum ticket, a formula that invites the public to experience art and music together in a single visit.
The 2026 festival takes place at the Campanian Museum of Capua from July 14 to 26, with six evening and Sunday events dedicated to chamber music. Inauguration on Tuesday, July 14 with accordionist Luigi Gordano and the Trio Choré, with the closing entrusted to the British Trio Penumbra. Admission included in the museum ticket.
The Campanian Museum is located in the historic center of Capua (CE). By car, take the Capua exit on the A1 Milan-Naples motorway, then follow signs for the center. By train, the Capua station is served by the regional line; the museum is within walking distance from the city center.
Access to the concerts is included in the Campanian Museum entrance ticket. You can book by writing to [email protected]; tickets can be collected at the museum starting one hour before the concert begins. Information is available on the website autunnomusicale.com.
