The international film festival dedicated to travel and territories, held in Civitavecchia
The International Tour Film Festival (ITFF) is the premier film event in Civitavecchia, a port city in the province of Rome, in the Lazio region. Organized by the cultural association CivitaFilm, the festival is chaired by Piero Pacchiarotti with Antonio Flamini serving as artistic director. Originally created as a showcase for cinema related to tourism and regional promotion, it has grown over the years into an international benchmark for the relationship between the big screen, travel, cultural identity, and territorial marketing. In 2026, the festival celebrates its fifteenth edition.
The heart of the ITFF is an international competition open to works of all lengths and genres, divided into numerous categories. Sections include:
What sets the International Tour Film Festival apart is its thematic focus: the competing works tell stories of travel, places, communities, and world cultures. The festival bridges cinematic language with regional promotion, offering filmmakers a platform to showcase landscapes and identities through the big screen. This unique approach makes it a standout event in the Italian festival landscape, attracting directors and productions from numerous countries.
Screenings and events take place in the city's main cultural spaces: Cinema Royal, Cineteatro Buonarroti, Teatro Verdi (Fondazione Ca.Ri.Civ.), Cittadella della Musica, and other central locations. The gala evening and awards ceremony are typically held at the Cittadella della Musica, attended by Italian and international guests, authorities, and the press.
Alongside the competition, the ITFF program features photography exhibitions, meetings with authors, art displays, moments dedicated to youth mobility, and tastings of local products. There is also a collateral literary competition, highlighting the multidisciplinary nature of the event, which combines cinema, visual arts, literature, and local food and wine.
The festival's international reputation is confirmed by the numbers: for the 2026 edition, hundreds of works have arrived from dozens of nations, with a selection spanning every continent. The festival has been presented at the Italian Pavilion of the Cannes Film Festival, a sign of its constant growth. Supported by the patronage of the Ministry of Culture, the Lazio Region, and the Municipality of Civitavecchia, the ITFF is now a fixed fixture of the Lazio autumn cultural calendar and an opportunity to discover the port city in a new light.
The International Tour Film Festival returns to Civitavecchia (Rome, Lazio) from October 7 to 11, 2026 for its fifteenth edition, organized by the cultural association CivitaFilm under the presidency of Piero Pacchiarotti and the artistic direction of Antonio Flamini.
The international competition confirms its numerous sections — fiction, feature films, documentaries, animation, tourism promotion, as well as the Vertical Movie and Short in AI categories — with a selection of hundreds of works from dozens of countries. Alongside film screenings, there will be exhibitions, meetings, side events, and the gala evening with the awards ceremony.
The detailed schedule of screenings, the composition of the juries, and the list of awards have not yet been published: information will be updated as soon as the organization releases the official program.
Civitavecchia is well-connected to Rome: by train, the station is served by regional lines and fast trains along the Tyrrhenian route (about an hour from the capital). By car, it can be reached via the A12 Rome-Civitavecchia motorway. The city is also one of the main ports in the Mediterranean, a hub for ships and cruises.
Festival screenings and events are free of charge, subject to availability.
Events are distributed between Cinema Royal, Cineteatro Buonarroti, Teatro Verdi, Cittadella della Musica, and other spaces in the city center. It is recommended to check the venue for each event on the official program.
