The great street food village in Piazza Ariostea
The International Street Food is one of the most beloved traveling exhibitions by street food enthusiasts, and it stops every year in Ferrara, in the heart of the historic center. The stage is the scenic Piazza Ariostea, which for an entire weekend transforms into a large open-air gastronomic village, with dozens of food trucks and stands lined up along the perimeter of the square.
The beauty of this event is its variety: you can go from Italian regional traditions to international specialties without moving a step. Among the offerings animating the stands, you'll find Sicilian cuisine, Puglian bombette, Abruzzese arrosticini, Roman specialties and puccia, handmade Ascolana olives, Neapolitan pizza and fried pizza, Angus burgers and smash burgers, pulled pork, and cuisine from Trentino. There are also incursions from abroad, with paella, Hungarian kürtős, and Argentinian cuisine, accompanied by Italian and foreign craft beers.
The event is promoted by A.I.R.S. — Associazione Italiana Ristoratori di Strada (Italian Street Food Restaurant Association), chaired by Alfredo Orofino, in collaboration with Confartigianato Imprese Ferrara and with the patronage of the Municipality of Ferrara. The Ferrara stop is part of a long national tour that touches dozens of Italian cities: the organizers select operators to ensure the quality and authenticity of street food, while also promoting the local area and tourism.
With completely free admission, the International Street Food is designed for families, groups of friends, and curious people of all ages. You can eat standing or sitting between stalls, in a convivial atmosphere that enlivens the evenings in the center of Ferrara, in the province of Ferrara, and in the heart of Emilia-Romagna. It is the ideal occasion for a gastronomic walk without borders, a stone's throw from the Este walls and the city's Renaissance monuments.
The 2026 Ferrara stop falls in a symbolic year: the tenth edition of the International Street Food, of which Ferrara hosts the 14th stop. Piazza Ariostea welcomes a large gastronomic village for three days, with dozens of operators selected by A.I.R.S. The event is part of a national tour that, during the same period, also touches other Italian cities.
The event is organized by Alfredo Orofino, president of A.I.R.S., with Confartigianato Imprese Ferrara and the patronage of the Municipality of Ferrara. Admission is free for everyone.
