About Ponte in Festa

Ponte in Festa is the big community festival of Pontelagoscuro, the northern district of the Municipality of Ferrara, which for almost a month transforms Piazza Bruno Buozzi into a meeting point with typical Ferrara cuisine, live music, shows, and cultural events. Every evening the restaurant opens with cappellacci, cappelletti, and traditional dishes, while the stage features tribute bands, comedy, dance, and moments dedicated to social issues. The proceeds support the most vulnerable families in the area: a popular festival where fun and solidarity go hand in hand.

A village festival that lasts almost a month

Ponte in Festa is one of the most cherished events in Pontelagoscuro, a populous district located in the northern part of the Municipality of Ferrara, in Emilia-Romagna. For about four weeks, the heart of the neighborhood, the very central Piazza Bruno Buozzi, comes alive every evening with food stalls, shows, and opportunities for gathering. It's not a one-night event, but a long daily appointment that accompanies residents from the end of May until the summer solstice.

Typical Ferrara cuisine takes center stage

The real driving force of the festival is the restaurant set up under the tents, open every evening. The great classics of the Estense tradition are served, starting with cappellacci di zucca (pumpkin ravioli) and cappelletti in broth, accompanied each year by some novelty on the menu. Takeaway is also available for those who prefer to enjoy the dishes at home. Over fifty volunteers cook and serve, dedicating their time and energy each edition.

Music, shows, and meetings

The program alternates musical evenings, comedy, dance, and educational moments. The stage features tribute bands dedicated to great Italian and international music artists, rock and pop concerts, comedy shows, and open dance lessons. These are complemented by cultural meetings and book presentations by local authors, also hosted in the parish hall, as well as some evenings dedicated to social issues that give meaning to the entire event.

A festival with a charitable purpose

What sets Ponte in Festa apart is its charitable soul: the proceeds support the activities of the parish and Caritas for the most vulnerable families and citizens in the northern area of Ferrara. The festival was born from the collaboration of various local entities — the Parish of San Giovanni Battista, the Pro Loco Pontelagoscuro, the Vivere Insieme Committee, the football club Pontelagoscuro, the Il Quadrifoglio Social Promotion Center, and the Cristalli nella Nebbia association — in a concrete example of how Ferrara's convivial tradition can become a tool for aggregation and mutual aid.

Pontelagoscuro, Ferrara's northern gateway

Overlooking the Po River, Pontelagoscuro has always been a crossroads between Emilia-Romagna and Veneto. Participating in Ponte in Festa means discovering a more authentic, neighborhood-focused Ferrara, far from the tourist circuits but rich in human warmth and genuine flavors.

Ponte in Festa — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Ponte in Festa brings 25 evenings of music, entertainment, and education to Pontelagoscuro, from May 28 to June 21 in Piazza Bruno Buozzi. Every evening, the restaurant opens with typical Ferrara cuisine, while the stage features tribute bands, concerts, and comedy shows. Three events are dedicated to social issues, and the proceeds support nearly a thousand vulnerable citizens in the northern area of Ferrara.

The 2026 edition of Ponte in Festa takes place in Pontelagoscuro (Ferrara) from May 28 to June 21, with 25 consecutive evenings in Piazza Bruno Buozzi. The event is preceded on May 27 by a Burraco tournament.

The restaurant is open every evening from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM with traditional Ferrara dishes — cappellacci di zucca, cappelletti, and tasty new additions to the menu — while shows all start at 9:00 PM. The music lineup includes tribute bands dedicated to, among others, Pinguini Tattici Nucleari, David Bowie, and 883, as well as rock and pop concerts, comedy shows, and dance lessons.

Among the cultural events are the presentation of Alberto Astolfi's book "La guerra sul Po – Polesella 22 dicembre 1509" and an event with Luca Duò and the collection of short stories "Il profumo dello scaviccio." Three evenings are dedicated to social issues: the proceeds from the entire festival benefit nearly a thousand vulnerable citizens through the parish and Caritas.
