The Concordia stop of the FIAD: integrated theatre by the Manolibera company on the stage of the Teatro del Popolo
The International Festival of Different Abilities (FIAD) is one of the most original cultural events in Emilia-Romagna: since 1999, it has changed the perspective on disability, placing people with different abilities not at the center of someone else's narrative, but as authors, performers, and protagonists of the stage. Organized and promoted by the Cooperativa Sociale Nazareno of Carpi, in the Province of Modena, the festival spreads its events across several municipalities in the region: Carpi, Correggio, Formigine, Bologna, and, of course, Concordia sulla Secchia.
In Concordia, the festival chooses the Teatro del Popolo as its home, a historic venue on Via della Pace managed by ATER Fondazione. It is here that the integrated theatre company Manolibera takes the stage, a group that brings together actors with and without disabilities in a scenic work built together, with the same care and rigor as a professional company.
Manolibera's shows are never exercises in good sentiments: they are true re-elaborations of great stories from literature and tradition, presented with an authentic theatrical language capable of moving and engaging audiences of all ages.
Each edition of the FIAD revolves around a theme. Through exhibitions, conferences, concerts, dance, artistic, and culinary workshops, the festival builds a journey that spans the entire spring and touches three provinces in Emilia-Romagna. The Concordia sulla Secchia stop is a precious piece of this puzzle: it brings an international event to a town in the Bassa Modenese, where art becomes a tool for inclusion and diversity a resource of human beauty.
The Concordia stop of the 28th edition of the International Festival of Different Abilities (May 3 - June 9, 2026) takes place at the Teatro del Popolo in Concordia sulla Secchia. The show "Miser Abili", presented by the integrated theatre company Manolibera, reinterprets the story of Jean Valjean, the protagonist of Victor Hugo's masterpiece Les Misérables, using the unmistakable scenic language of a group that blends actors with and without disabilities.
The 2026 edition of FIAD, promoted by Cooperativa Sociale Nazareno of Carpi, revolves around the theme Infinite Desires, Proud Visions: an invitation to interpret the human experience starting from the scandalous power of desire.
"Miser Abili" - the story of Jean Valjean told by the Compagnia teatrale integrata Manolibera.
The performance is part of the distributed program of the 28th edition of the International Festival of Different Abilities, which from May 3 to June 9, 2026, enlivens Carpi, Correggio, Concordia sulla Secchia, Formigine, and Bologna with exhibitions, conferences, concerts, dance, theatre, and workshops.
