Spatula painting from around the world in the ancient village of Montenero
Among the cultural events of the summer in Montenero di Bisaccia, in the province of Campobasso, the International Art Exhibition of the Masters of the Spatula stands out: an exhibition dedicated to painting created with the spatula technique, which gives the canvases a characteristic textured and three-dimensional effect.
The exhibition brings together artists from various nations, who display their works in the Borgo Antico (Ancient Village) of the town. The exhibition takes place in the first days of August, concurrently with the Notte nel Borgo Antico (Night in the Ancient Village), when the historic center comes alive with lights, music, and visitors.
The exhibition is part of the rich program of the Estate Montenerese (Montenerese Summer), the season of events that enlivens the town from July to September. An opportunity to combine the discovery of the medieval village with the appreciation of contemporary art, in a suggestive setting overlooking the Adriatic Sea.
For the summer of 2026, the Montenerese Summer program again includes the International Art Exhibition of the Masters of the Spatula, traditionally held in the first days of August in the Borgo Antico of Montenero di Bisaccia. The exhibition brings together artists from various nations who work with the spatula technique, and takes place concurrently with the Night in the Ancient Village. Precise dates and artist names will be announced by the Municipality with the publication of the summer program.
