Three days of culture, art, and sport against racism in Primavalle
InControCulture is the event that every March transforms the Primavalle district, in Rome's Municipality XIV, into a vibrant space for intercultural dialogue. Launched in 2025, the festival coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on March 21st, bringing together schools, associations, and citizens around the values of inclusion, hospitality, and respect for diversity. The wordplay in the title, between "incontro" (encounter) and "controcultura" (counter-culture), perfectly captures the initiative's spirit: creating culture against all forms of racism.
The heart of the event is Parco Dominique Green, located at Via Sant'Igino Papa 89, a green space beloved by the residents of Primavalle. For two days, the park hosts workshops, exhibitions, and open-air performances, while the final day sees students and citizens march to the Santa Maria della Pietà complex, where an olive tree, a symbol of peace, was planted in 2025.
The festival spans three days filled with activities designed primarily for young people and families:
The most symbolic moment is the Peace March on March 26th: hundreds of students from Primavalle and Municipality XIV parade together to the Santa Maria della Pietà gardens, where they form a large human peace symbol. This collective gesture embodies the deep meaning of InControCulture: building community starting with the new generation.
The event is promoted by the extensive Rete Migranti (Migrants Network) for the promotion of a culture of hospitality, with the support of Rome's Municipality XIV, ASL Roma 1, Samifo (Health for Forced Migrants), and the Lazio Third Sector Forum, as part of the "Periferia Capitale" program by the Fondazione Charlemagne. All initiatives take place in Rome, Lazio, and are completely free of charge.
The second edition of InControCulture was held on March 21, 22, and 26, 2026, in the Primavalle district of Rome. On Saturday, March 21, and Sunday, March 22, Parco Dominique Green hosted artistic workshops, exhibitions, theatrical performances, children's activities, and ethnic food tastings, with initiatives aimed primarily at young people and students. On Thursday, March 26, at 10:00 AM, the Peace March led local school students to the Santa Maria della Pietà complex, where a human peace symbol was formed and short films by migrants were screened.
Parco Dominique Green is located at Via Sant'Igino Papa 89, in the Primavalle district (Rome Municipality XIV). By car, it can be reached via Via Boccea or Circonvallazione Cornelia; by public transport, numerous urban bus lines connect Primavalle to the Cornelia metro station (Line A).
All events are free of charge.
As these are outdoor events designed for families and schools, comfortable clothing is recommended. The final day features the Peace March, departing from local schools toward the Santa Maria della Pietà complex.
