Wine, music, and culture amidst the forgotten corners of Gela

In Vino Ghelas is one of the most anticipated and beloved summer events in Gela, in the province of Caltanissetta. The concept, simple yet powerful, is to combine wine, music, and art to bring citizens—especially the younger generation—back into the most beautiful and often neglected parts of the city. Each edition is much more than just an evening; it is a journey into beauty, an invitation to rediscover the territory with fresh eyes, accompanied by a glass of wine, great music, and a strong sense of community.
The event was born and continues to grow thanks to the Cambiamenti cultural association, which has been committed for years to the social and cultural regeneration of the Gela area. The project is led by a group of young promoters, including president Giuseppe Perna, alongside Giuseppe Lo Grasso, Angelo Catalano, Samuele Caiola, Francesco Bernascone, Stefano Romano, and Simone De Lotto. Their goal is clear: to offer the people of Gela a chance for wholesome entertainment in some of the city's most fascinating locations, modeled after similar initiatives held at archaeological sites worldwide.
One of the hallmarks of In Vino Ghelas is its itinerant nature. Starting from Via Filippo Morello, the event has moved through various iconic locations in the city center over the years: the Villa Comunale (which has hosted multiple editions), the Belvedere, and the evocative Timoleontean Walls, part of Gela's archaeological area. These ancient walls, linked to the Corinthian general Timoleon who rebuilt the Greek city, have become the most recent backdrop for the festival, thanks to a collaboration with the Archaeological Park.
The stars of the evening are the local wineries and wine producers, who guide the public through a tasting journey of local oenological excellence. Among them, Casa Grazia stands out as a Gela-based brand representing the best of the region's winemaking. The experience is further enriched by live music and a growing commitment to sustainability: thanks to a partnership with Impianti SRR ATO4 CL SUD, recent editions have hosted activities dedicated to environmental awareness, confirming the event's increasingly conscious vocation.
In Vino Ghelas has become an identity-defining event for Gela and the entire province of Caltanissetta, capable of attracting hundreds of participants and transforming a simple tasting into a moment of cultural rediscovery and civic pride.
The official dates for In Vino Ghelas 2026 have not yet been announced. Based on previous editions, all concentrated in the month of August, the event is expected to return to Gela with its usual format of wine tastings, live music, and the promotion of the city's historical sites. Details regarding dates, locations, and the program will be released by the Cambiamenti association in the months leading up to the event.
