Nine days of free music in the heart of the city
Every late summer, the historic center of Imola, in the Metropolitan City of Bologna, fills with music thanks to Imola in Musica, one of the longest-running and most beloved music festivals in Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 1996 and organized by the Municipality of Imola through the Service for Theaters and Musical Activities, the festival has grown to offer up to one hundred concerts in just a few days, all completely free of charge.
The formula that makes Imola in Musica special is that of a widespread festival: not a single large arena, but dozens of locations that come alive with music simultaneously. The city squares, the courtyards of historic palaces, the gardens, the cloisters, and the most evocative spaces of the city host the stages, creating a path that the public can discover by walking from one concert to another. From dawn until late at night, every corner holds a sonic surprise.
Heterogeneity is the hallmark of the event. The program features a mix of light music, rock, pop, classical, opera, jazz, blues, folk, and ethnic rhythms from around the world. Alongside established big names, there is space for young artists and new talents, also thanks to the collaboration with entities like the MEI (Meeting of Independent Labels) of Faenza, which makes Imola in Musica a true window onto the Italian independent scene.
The quality and originality of the festival have earned it the EFFE Festival label, the mark that identifies the best festivals in Europe. A seal that places Imola in Musica among the reference musical events not only in Emilia-Romagna but in the entire European landscape.
From August 29 to September 6, 2026, Imola in Musica celebrates an important milestone: its thirtieth edition. For nine days, the historic center of Imola will once again be dressed in music, with a free program ranging from pop to rock, from classical to opera, from jazz to folk and world rhythms. Alongside the concerts, the collateral sections that have always enriched the festival will return: exhibitions, guided tours, artistic performances, street music, and food and wine offerings.
The organization, managed by the Municipality of Imola - Service for Theaters and Musical Activities, has opened applications for associations, entities, schools, and local businesses until June 15, 2026.
The detailed program for the 30th edition, including lineups, times, and venues for the concerts, will be announced by the Municipality of Imola in the weeks preceding the event (proposals from local organizers are collected until June 15, 2026). As every year, the widespread program will unfold across dozens of stages in the squares, courtyards, and gardens of the historic center, with over a hundred events from dawn till late at night.
The complete program will be published on www.imolainmusica.it and on the free Imola in Musica app for Android and iOS.
