The historic rock contest and festival in Savignano sul Rubicone, a showcase for emerging bands since 1996
Born in 1996, Il Rock è Tratto is one of the longest-running and most beloved music events in Savignano sul Rubicone, a town in the Province of Forlì-Cesena located on the border between Romagna and Marche. The event combines two aspects: on one hand, a contest dedicated to emerging bands and artists, and on the other, a major free concert with a prominent guest from the Italian indie and singer-songwriter scene. This formula makes it, year after year, a true launchpad for new talents from the region and beyond.
The heart of the project is the competition for emerging groups and solo artists: the winner receives a prize of 1,000 euros provided by the Municipality, to be invested in equipment or the promotion of their music, and above all, the privilege of performing on the stage in Piazza Borghesi as the opening act for the main concert. Registration is free, and each edition receives dozens of applications from all over Italy, a testament to the reputation the event has built over nearly thirty years of activity.
The festival's history is studded with artists who have shaped Italian music. Among others, Afterhours, Elio e le Storie Tese, I Tre Allegri Ragazzi Morti, and Calcutta have performed on Savignano's stages. This legacy makes Il Rock è Tratto much more than a local festival: it's a crossroads where Italian independent music meets the Romagna public in an intimate and free setting.
The event takes place outdoors, right in the historic center, and admission is always free: a choice that makes it a popular and inclusive event, capable of attracting live music enthusiasts from all over the Province of Forlì-Cesena and the nearby Romagna Riviera. Organized by the Department of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Savignano sul Rubicone together with the cultural association Retropop Live, Il Rock è Tratto inaugurates the city's summer event season each year, featuring music, food, and theatre.
