Edition 2025 — Il Calzonissimo

The first edition of Il Calzonissimo took place on Friday, April 11, 2025, in the teaching restaurant of the «Mauro Perrone» Institute in Castellaneta, which was opened to the public for the occasion. Nine contestants competed in the two Lenten calzone categories, Tradition and Innovation, before a panel of experts. A debut that launched a new event dedicated to local gastronomic heritage.

The First Edition (2025)

The debut of Il Calzonissimo was held on Friday, April 11, 2025, in the restaurant hall of the «Mauro Perrone» Higher Education Institute in Castellaneta, on Via Spineto Montecamplo. The initiative, promoted by the Pro Loco Castellaneta «Domenica Terrusi», saw nine contestants compete in the two competition sections.

The entries were judged by a panel consisting of Domenica Di Rocco (Pro Loco President), Fabio Grimaldi (School Principal), chef Vito Netti, and food industry professionals Luigi Ignazzi and Donatello Lemma. Prizes were awarded to Anna Gravina, winner of the Traditional Calzone category, and Francesca Di Dio, first in the Innovative Calzone category. The event successfully highlighted the Lenten calzone as a symbol of the gastronomic identity of Castellaneta and Puglia.
